CIRCUS THRILLS
Mrs. Janet Rice wishes to announce the
forthcoming marriage of her daughter Susan to
Dan Smith. The wedding wit take place Saturday,
July 16, 1983 at 7 p.m. In Nortbalde United
Church, Seaforth. Dan Is the son of Bob and Gall
Smith of Sarnia.

Though the plot drags a little before
intermission, it speeds up in Act 11 revealing
Geor$e Bailey, chillingly played by John C.
Rutter, the farmer who employs Winnie, as a
villian who mistreats his animals and beats
Winnie. The action peaks with a confronta-
tion between George and Agnes who
threatens him with a shovel.
The set, a farmhouse kitchen, was
beautifully done with a wood stove, an indoor
earnour Whig on a farm hi`Ontario.

When Jack and Winnie Fairburn, played
by Michael Cronyn and Dawn O'Neil, arrive
at the Cunningham farm, they are greeted by
the suspicious Mrs. Parson (Ann Casson)
who thinks they must be pick -pockets and her
no-nonsense daughter, Agnes Cunningham,
who puts them to work immediately. With
nothing to return to in England, they are
terrified when Agnes (Terry Tweed) consi-
ders sending Jack back because he is smaller watere by Agnes who is. gruesome-looking
nurse.

Trucks roll in for circus Saturday

be combined to form an
incredibly large but graceful
big top for the one day visit of
the Martin and Downs Circus
Canada's touring teat circus.
The local Agriculture Society
in Seaforth are presenting the
circus on Saturday July 2 with
two performances at 2;00 and
4:15 p.m, at the fairgrounds.
Each morning in over 120
communities across Canada
the circus erects the big top
feeds the circus animals, and
personnel, and prepares for
performances, rain or shine.

Mr. and Mrs. Benson
Hamilton of Whitby recently
celebrated their fortieth wed-
ding anniversary. Ben and
Anne (McQuaid) were former
residents of Seaforth. They
were married at St. Joseph's
Church, Stratford, on June 2,
1943. They have one daugh-
ter, Mary Anne, Mrs." Frank
Bonfigli and two grandchild-
ren, Paul and Laura of Toron-
to.
At the same time, Ben was
honored at a retirement tri-
bute and dinner in Oshawa,
by the Durham Region Ro-
man Catholic Separate School
Board of which ' he was

Over 300 guests were pre-
sent, including Most Rever-
end Robert B. Clune, Auxil-
iary Bishop of Toronto, sev-
eral priests and sisters.
Guests were present from
Windsor, Winghatn, London,
Zurich, Peterborough, Lind-
say, Toronto, Oshawa and
surrounding district.
Ben was formerly with the
Dominion Bank in Wingham,
Seaforth and Whitby. Pru-
dential Insurance Company
of America and for 20 years
with Durham Region Sepa-
rate School Board, Oshawa.
