150 years in Canada

" The weekend's highlight is a gathering
Sunday afternoon at the Ken Scott farm on
the banks of the Maitland in Roxboro. It's
the site of the arrival of Robert Scott and
Archibald Dickson and their sons in 1833.
A year later, nearly 40 relatives joined
them. A cairn will be dedicated in honor of
those who died shortly after arrival or
during the voyage from Scotland.
Since many Seaforth area families are
descended from these original settlers
(Govenlock; Habkirk; Grieve and Render -

ahead of time for the reunion barbecue on
Sunday and super Saturday is 'sssential,
so that organizers know how, many to'

will be served at the Legion that night.
Following the program at Roxboro Sunday
afternoon, a beef barbeque will be held at
the new Seaforth and District Community
Centres.
About 400 people attended the 140th
anniversary of the arrival of the Scotts and
Dicksons from Scotland in 1973 at Roxboro.
