The show was hosted by Jim Swan and included barbershop quartetes such as Jubilation from o 11@ Scarborough (1983 Ontario Champions), Here Comes Treble from Mt. Forest and Seaforth'sPhoto n Town y Hook) Country Four. GORDON SCOTT, P.R.O. Last week in the Expositor there was mention in the Brussels section of an instal- lation team from Seaforth Legion. At this time 1 would like to acknowledge these comrades by name. Peter Malcolm, our President was the piper, and the acting Sgt. -at -arms was Don Muir. Others taking part were Tom Wilbee, Bill Dalrymple, Ma- jor Frank Golding, Ken Coombs, Elmer Rivers, James Watson and yours truly. Those, attending for the Auxiliary, Thelma Coombs, President, Barbara Scott, Eva Brown, Olave Little, Edith Jessome, Marilyn Hodgert and Annie Malcolm. These Comrades and Ladies will be attending Exeter on Friday, May 21 to install the officers -elect of the Exeter Branch. We hope to have a good crowd of our own Legion members accompany us that evening. Entertain- ment at Exeter is always good. In the bulletin recently released there was an error, the date of the mixed golf tournament has had to be changed. If you have your bulletin, please note the date should read June 11. More will be a printed at a latter date on this tournament. Last Saturday evening was the end of the Bowling with the season -end banquet cat- ered and served by the Ladies Auxiliary. Under the guidance of President, Mrs. Marg Smale this was an excellent season of bowling. No league can operate suc- cessfully without the help of those who do the necessary work. She is Professor Anne Martin Matthews of the family studies department. The research centre is funded for three years by a 5237,000 grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. As well as co-ordinating studies on agirkg in various departments of the university, the Centre iII sponsor 'conferences and workshops on the special neecs of older citizens in their communities. - A former Seaforth resident, who is now a Scarborough alderman. has developed a proposal for a Tourism Advisory Board in that Metro Toronto borough. He is Kurt Christensen, who lived in Harpurhey where his family established a cement the plant, The ward 4 alderman points out that Scarborough should he seeking a piece of Metro's large and growing tourist industry. Jan Westcott. son of Clare Westcott, the Seaforth native who is executive director of Premier Bill Davis's office, Was Kurt's campaign manager when he was elected to Scarborough council last fall. Kurt's sister. Gorda, is a nurse in Oshawa. Local hones arc needed for a number of high school students from Japan, who'd like to visit Canada as part of the International Youth • Fellowship program. It's the same program that saw a number of Brazilian students attend SDHS a few years ago and Sandra Hulley. now Sandra Robinson, made a return exchange visit to Brazil.
