The Huron Expositor, 1983-02-02, Page 7THE HURON EXPOSITOR, 141 101 AIRY 2, 1983 -- A7 Short Shots by Evelyn Kennedy A dull, grey day makes folks feel just that way and loathe to stir themselves into activity. Do not succumb to that feeling. Beat the "gloomies". Put on a cheerful face, sing or whistle or get some rousing music on the radio or stereo. Get yourself busy with the most cheerful task you can find. If this spring-like weather is not going to continue nature has been fooling some of its own, robins, trees and flowers. Mrs. Kumn of Brussels reported Saturday morning that she was enjoying watching a plump lively robin happily feeding on berries from shrubs in her yard. Even before, leaving Ottawa on January 7th trees there were budding. Hardy crocus have been trying to push green -tips up to the sunlight. Could they be mistaken, the robin be forced to seek shelter from a blizzard and d crocus nipped off by frost and buried dee. " snow? Let these harbingers of spring be rig t and that welcome season not around a far off corner, but just around a pleasant cur We were i ormed last month that the inflation rate was a . n. Figures were quoted to prove it. This may a be true, but somehow it does not seem to ha e much impact on the cost of living. The ex.ense of food, utilities, household-necessiti , fuel etc. still seem to empty our wallets of cash and lower our bank balance in an alarmingly rapid manner. Maybe the metric system will soon remove some of the confusion when we go shopping for shoes. Confusion occurs because hived - ed shoes (as if we could afford them) d6 not have the same standard of sizes as Canada and each county has their own method of stating the size. Shoe companies and retailers are now in the process of getting a new international shoe -sizing system. The size of your shoe will then be the measure of the length of your foot in millimeters. If your foot measures 200 mm your size will be 200. Joe Clark is not the only political figure having ptroblems these days. Premier Rene Levesque has a massive handful of trouble to deal with. Thousands have walked out on an illegal mounting strike. That on top of all the other problems of the Parti Quebecois must give him a crashing headache and sleepless nights. The pressure shows. He is an aging troubled man. If you thoughtlessly, or deliberately, insult someone with a nasty personal remark you go on your way and forget. or gloat about it. That hurt may live in the memory of the one it was directed to and remain a sore spot for the rest of their life. It will remain forever, a scar on your character. Guard the words ou utter. They cannot be recalled. TOWN OF. SEAFORTH PROCLAMATION red At: 518 Main Str (est Exeter, Ont.
