Purchasing after maximum value
The Purchasing Department is one
which works with each department
within the hospital. It is the duty of this
department to obtain maximum value
for each dollar of expenditure - con-
sidering the interest of the hospital in
all transactions.
This department ensures that
qualified manufacturers and vendors
service the hospital and, local purchas-
ing, where possible, is preferred. All
supplies, including day-to-day opera-
tional items, capital equipment, fur-
niture, leases, rentals and maintenance
agreements are negotiated through the
Purchasing Department in cooperation
with the various department heads.
Within the Purchasing Department is
Central Stores, which contains back-up
inventory. Items in inventory are issued
to the individual departments on an as -
needed and/or emergency basis. Each
department's budget absorbs this con-
sumption and is recorded in the Stores
Department.
The Director of Materiel Manage-
ment, Greg O'Reilly, oversees the Pur-
chasing and Stores Departments.
