It is the duty of this department to obtain maximum value for each dollar of expenditure - con- sidering the interest of the hospital in all transactions. This department ensures that qualified manufacturers and vendors service the hospital and, local purchas- ing, where possible, is preferred. All supplies, including day-to-day opera- tional items, capital equipment, fur- niture, leases, rentals and maintenance agreements are negotiated through the Purchasing Department in cooperation with the various department heads. Within the Purchasing Department is Central Stores, which contains back-up inventory. Items in inventory are issued to the individual departments on an as - needed and/or emergency basis. Each department's budget absorbs this con- sumption and is recorded in the Stores Department. The Director of Materiel Manage- ment, Greg O'Reilly, oversees the Pur- chasing and Stores Departments. Director of Materiel Management We were pleased to be chosen to„ do the MASONRY including ,ALTERATIONS to the Seatorth Community Hospital 273-2313 DON KERNIGHAN, Assistant Executive Director- Finance Kernighan operates office Don Kernighan is the Seaforth Com- munity Hospital's Assistant Executive Director of Finance, and as such is responsible for the hospital's budget, its accounting and finance, and its state- ment of presentation. He came to the Seaforth hospital in 1975 from Victoria Hospital in London. Kernighan is assisted by Cathy Benewies, who is responsible for all out- patient account billing, and Catherine Staples, who does all in-patient account billing. Mrs. Bennewies- has worked at the Seaforth hospital since.1980, while Mrs. Staples started in 1968. Also working out of the business of- fice is Betty Coleman. Mrs. Coleman is responsible for personnel, payroll and ✓ accounting. She started work with the Seaforth hospital in 1969.
