to provide pastoral
The Seaforth Community Hospital and
area clergy have worked closely in the
past year, to ensure that patients at the
hospital are offered good pastoral care.
Traditionally operated out of the
ministerial, the pastoral care program
has changed this year, so that there is
a more direct link between the par-
ticipating clergy and the hospital.
They have arranged a system
whereby there is a rotating Chaplain of
the Week, who is responsible during
his/her appointed week to visit new ad-
missions, visit chronic care patients,
and to arrange the Thursday worship
service. That minister would also be
available, if no specific minister were
named. should the hospital have a
crisis
The hospital m trying to encourage
this program, has met with the clergy
over the past year, and has offered in-
service sessions for those participating.
"We appreciate the attitude of the
hospital." said Coordinator Cheryl -Ann
Stadelbauer-Sampa. "They feel we have
a role to play in the wellbeing of the
patients and we are encouraged to take
up that role."
`It is a gift to the hospital from the
local churches to make this program
possible for those who feel they require
spiritual counselling and advising,"
