Lorraine Devereaux is the Seaforth
Community Hospital's Director of Nutri-
tion and Food Service, and as such is
charged with the management of nutri-
tion care for the patients and employees
of the hospital, as well as the surroun-
ding community. Her duties involve the
directing of the food service system and
the teaching of nutrition education
through the counselling of out-patients
and consumer groups.
Mrs. Devereaux graduated from the
University of Western Ontario with a
Bachelor degree majoring in Food and
Nutrition, and completed a year of
dietetic internship at Sunnybrook
Hospital, Toronto, at which time she
qualified as a Registered Professional
Dietetian.
Prior to joining the Seaforth hospital
staff in 1983, Mrs. Devereaux worked as
an Out -Patient Dietetian at St. Joseph's
Hospital in London, and as a Public
Health Nutritionist for Huron and Perth
Counties.
Laboratory

Tering from myocardial infarction,
In the near future, there are plans to
add six more tests to the laboratory test
menu. These tests will include
cholesterol and triglyceride levels which
are indicators of possible risk of heart
attacks.
By performing these tests locally and
in a timely manner, it may be possible
to reduce the number or severity of
heart attacks in the community, by pro-
viding this information to the local
physicians for their use in accessing the
risk of heart disease.
As can be seen from this overview,
the Seaforth Laboratory is involved in
many aspects of patient care, from
acute illness to preventative medicine,
and is an integral part of the Total
Health Care System.

1964. In 1965 when the hospital moved to
its current location, she continued to
work, this time as a Registered Nursing
Assistant. She remained with the
hospital until 1969.
In 1971 Mrs. Chesney graduated from
the Stratford General Hospital's School
of Nursing and from 1971 to 1985 was
employed again at the Seaforth hospital,
this time as a Registered nurse in the
operating room and emergency depart-
ment. In 1984 she was made head nurse
of those departments, and will resume
that position once the need for an Oc-
cupancy Coordinator diminishes.
In addition to her diploma in nursing,
Mrs. Chesney also holds qualifications
in Nursing Unit Administration.
