Phone: 1-800-265-1953 Lorraine Devereaux is the Seaforth Community Hospital's Director of Nutri- tion and Food Service, and as such is charged with the management of nutri- tion care for the patients and employees of the hospital, as well as the surroun- ding community. Her duties involve the directing of the food service system and the teaching of nutrition education through the counselling of out-patients and consumer groups. Mrs. Devereaux graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor degree majoring in Food and Nutrition, and completed a year of dietetic internship at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, at which time she qualified as a Registered Professional Dietetian. Prior to joining the Seaforth hospital staff in 1983, Mrs. Devereaux worked as an Out -Patient Dietetian at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, and as a Public Health Nutritionist for Huron and Perth Counties. Laboratory . from page 9 Tering from myocardial infarction, In the near future, there are plans to add six more tests to the laboratory test menu. These tests will include cholesterol and triglyceride levels which are indicators of possible risk of heart attacks. By performing these tests locally and in a timely manner, it may be possible to reduce the number or severity of heart attacks in the community, by pro- viding this information to the local physicians for their use in accessing the risk of heart disease. As can be seen from this overview, the Seaforth Laboratory is involved in many aspects of patient care, from acute illness to preventative medicine, and is an integral part of the Total Health Care System. Coordinator • from page 10 1964. In 1965 when the hospital moved to its current location, she continued to work, this time as a Registered Nursing Assistant. She remained with the hospital until 1969. In 1971 Mrs. Chesney graduated from the Stratford General Hospital's School of Nursing and from 1971 to 1985 was employed again at the Seaforth hospital, this time as a Registered nurse in the operating room and emergency depart- ment. In 1984 she was made head nurse of those departments, and will resume that position once the need for an Oc- cupancy Coordinator diminishes. In addition to her diploma in nursing, Mrs. Chesney also holds qualifications in Nursing Unit Administration.
