A graduate of the Hamilton Civic Hospital's School of Nursing and the University of Western Ontario's Bachelor of Science Nursing Program, Mrs. Kitchen was Head Nurse on a surgical floor in Hamilton before em- barking on a teaching career in Neurological, Psychiatric and Communi- ty Health Nursing. She taught the Registered Nursing Assistant Program at Whiteoaks Secon- dary School in Oakville, and spent two and a half years on a Mental Health Research Project in Denver, Colorado to compare the effectiveness of treating the identified patient in an In -Hospital Program or admitting the entire fami- ly to home treatment. She started working at the Seaforth Community Hospital in 1972. Head nurse Seaforth born and raised Janice Leonhardt has been Day Supervisor of nursing at the Seaforth Community Hospital for three years, and has a number of responsibilities in that capacity. In addition to assisting clients with activities of daily living which include health teaching specific to their in- dividual requirements, Mrs. Leonhardt accompanies the doctor on his rounds and processes orders. She also does the medication rounds which include in- travenous therapy and oxygen therapy, etc. Mrs. Leonhardt is also responsible for staffing according to client needs, and for evaluating the care given. Born and raised in Seaforth, Mrs. Leonhardt is a graduate of the St. Mary's School of Nursing in Kitchener.
