Receptionists
first faces see
The jobs of the Receptionist at the
Seaforth Community Hospital, are many
and varied.
Often the first person a visitor to the
hospital will come in contact with, the
receptionist must be both friendly,
courteous and helpful to the public, and
knowledgeable of the hospital's
functions,
In addition to running the swit-
chboard, and operating an answering
service for fire emergencies 24 hours a
day, and for the public utilities commis-
sion after 5 p.m., the receptionist is
responsible for paging staff for
messages, call paging numbers for
phone calls and ensuring outpatient
emergency forms are completed for
each patient. She is also responsible for
seeing that patients with appointments
are directed to the appropriate depart-
ments; for monitoring the hallways and
emergency; and for knowing the
hospital's disaster plan.
Some of the receptionist's clerical
duties include: logging patient visits;
making demo sheets and keeping up to
date; filing for easy access; admitting
after office hours; making appointments
