On a sad note the Juniors are losing the
expertise of Tracey Fortune to the Strat-
ford Provincial A Team. In going to Strat-
ford, Tracey will be able to play with girls
equal to her in ability. Good Luck Tracey
and we will miss you.
Next home game for the Juniors is on
Friday against Stratford.

Hensall Explorers
Hensall - The Hensall Explorer Peace
Service was held at the United Church on
Sunday, November 12. Explorers Shelly
Gardner, Louse Wood and Lisa Campbell
greeted everyone at the front door.
The Explorers were all nicely dressed up
in their uniforms. The sanctuary was
beautifully decorated with the colorful
words `Blessed are the Peacemakers." As
well, there was a beautiful Explorer ban-
ner on loan from Parkhill hanging at the
front of the santuary. Both the Stratford
and Parkhill Explorers were in attendance
making the total number of Explorers pre-
sent 39. The leaders in attendance were
Beth Walkey from Parkhill, Sharon Parr
and Jennifer Chandler from Stratford and
Marg Cole and Joanne Rowcliffe from
Hensall.
Joanne Rowcliffe, Hensall Chief
Counsellor, opened the Peace Service by
welcoming everyone to the service,
especially the invited guests. The Call to
Worship was lead by Jessica Sywyk and
Christine Bengough. Jennifer Randall then
lead everyone in the Prayer of Approach.
Christine Bengough announced the first
hymn during which the Sunday School
students came forward. Rev. Doug Wrigt's
children's story involved putting bandaids
on all of the hurting places in the world,
that is, his globe. Rev. Wright said there
were so many hurting places that perhaps
the world should be put into a plaster cast.
Scripture readings followed the children's
time. The Old Testament readings were
Micah 4:3-4 and Isaiah 26:3-4 and were
read by Carolyn Upshall and Louise Wood.
Psalm 119:137-144 was read by Lisa Camp-
bell. The New Testament readings. Mat-
thew 5:9, Galations 5:22-23 an eke
_1:78-79 were read by Kerrie Consitt, An-
drea Radford and Anita Pht7Tips respective-
ly. The Senior Choir's lovely and ap-
propriate anthem was "A Song of Peace."
ine message was delivered by all of the
Explorers from Hensall. The girls came up
to, the podium in twos and threes and
discussed the various aspects of peace.
They spoke about how more money was
spent on the military worldwide than on
health care or education. The information
given was both revealing and frightening.
A responsive reading lead by Shelly Gard-
ner and Lisa Campbell followed the
message.

After the offering, lead by Christine
Bengough, the Sacrament of Holy Commu-
nion was performed by Rev. Wright. The
Service came to a conclusion with readings
in unison; first, The Prayer of St. Francis
of Assis, lead by Amy Wood and, second,
"The Job of the Peacemaker", lead by
Priscilla Lambert. After the hymn `Bless
and Keep Us God". the minister gave the
benediction. Then the Explorers and their
leaders along with the Senior Choir turn-
ed to face the congregation and sang the
hymn "Go Now In Peace". This was a
very moving ending to a very special
service.
Lunch was provided for the Explorers by
Marg Cole, Cindy Taylor, Shirley
McAllister, Jayne Consitt, Mary Kinsman
and Dorothy Brintnell. As the girls entered
the Fellowship Hall they signed in on a
dove cut-out and then chose a table to sit
at by selecting a number from a paper
bag. After everyone had plenty to eat
Sharon Parr from Stratford and Beth
Walkey from Parkhill thanked the Hensall
Explorers for their hospitality. Each of the
girls from Parithille and Stratford were
given a Peace Medallion made for them
by the Hensall Explorers. All in all, the
Peace service was well received by
everyone and the Hensel! Explorers should
be congratulated on a job well done!
A surprise was in store for the Hensel'
Explorers on their November 13th meeting.
While they were in their regular meeting,
parents were gathering in the Fellowship
Hall. When the girls entered, they could
not believe their eyes! A surprise star
presentation ceremony had been planned.
All of the Explorers who had worked
diligently on the Peace Service received a
star for their uniforms. As a special treat,
each of the girls received her very own
Good News Children's Bible. The Bibles
were presented by Rev. Wright. The stars
had been presented by Marg Cole and
Joanne Rowcliffe. The girls and the
parents had a delightful time. Tea, juice
and cookies were provided for everyone.
The following Explorers received both their
star and Bible: First Year: Anita Phillips, ,
Amy Wood, Jessica Sywyk and Nicole
Miller; Second Year: Jennifer Randall,
Krista Gass, Priscilla Lambert, Kerrie
Consitt, Carolyn Upshall, Andrea Radford
and Christine Bengough; Third Year:
Louise Wood, Lisa Campbell, Kari Taylor,
Shelly Garner and Katie Rathwell. Con-
gratulations to the Explorers for a job well
done.

the thing promptly crumbled and rotted
before my very eyes.
Things weren't much better last winter.
The house that I was sharing with seven
people was a little lacking in the furnace
department. If all of us were walling
around, talking at once, cooking with both
of the ovens on high and running all of the
hot water faucets in the house, the place
was relatively liveable. I woke up with a
snowdrift on my bed one particularly bad
morning in December. I had a com-
paratively easy time of it, though, having
the smallest room in the house. If I stood
in the middle of the floor and swung my
blow dryer around on 'high', I could
manage to warm it up in abou10 or 15
minutes.
One of these years I'll be abieto afford
to live somewhere with central heat. Being
a shameless suck, I'll crank it up to 25 or
30 without a second thought. In the mean-
time I suppose I can live with the cold.

it's tough to get to sleep when your teeth
are squeaking.
