In the afternoon man '$,�'�,E ENS', the Bethel Reformed women. Reverend Don Robinson of Brucefield United church led the worship service Tuesday afternoon. It was Rev. Robinson's first service and residents look forward to having him back. Many residents attended the memorial service held here at Queensway for the late Idella Sims. The service was led by chaplain Rev. Larry Stojokvic. Idella will be missed by all. The Christian Reformed Singers gave a pro- gram in song in the evening. Wednesday was the big day as auxiliary, families, staff and the community sup- ported the annual Craft and Bake Sale. The sale was a wonderful success! The winner of the draw on the exercise bicycle was Hazel Luther of Northcrest Apts. Various other winners were toaster. oven - Melva Ecker, Cozy Corner steak dinners - Ross McDonald, flower arrangment - Nellie Riley, plate - Evelyn Flynn, cheese tray - Hazel Corbett, and the plant - Erlene Stewart, silk flower arrangement - Donna Swale. Thank you to the wonderful aux- iliary, staff and all the people of the com- munity who baked and made crafts for the sale and supported it in any way. After the busy day on Wednesday,. residents settled to a less hectic routine on Thursday which included Fun and Fitness in the afternoon and a hilarious Lucille Ball movie in the evening. The November program of Hibbert United Church Women centred on the theme, Remembrance when Florence McPhail presented a thoughtful and sym- pathetic view of what three wars have meant in her own family. Pat McKinnon then gave the readings:. a Remembrance day poem written by her daughter Gloria and an account of the times of George Hees, soldier and statesman. The singing of .suitable hymns and of several brisk old marching songs, was con- cluded by a prayer of Thanksgiving and of hope for the future. During the business session, chaired by Verle Mahon with secretary Mary F. Dow, donations were made to local' church ex- penses, to the Francis Sandy Native Ministeries training centre, to the Alcohol • and Drug Concerns, and to the Resource Centre. A slate of .officers for the coming year was accepted following considerable discus- sion concerning possible changes in the for- mat and emphasis of the group. Plans for Christmas activities ineluded acceptance of an invitation to hold the December meeting at the manse. Also members were made aware of a request for a banner to be constructed and donated for use at next Junes conference. After a long session, all were more than ready to relax over the tasty lunch serv- ed by hostesses Ruby Roney and Helen Fell. PEOPLE Pat, Joanne, Mathew and Kelly Donovan, Val D'Or, Quebec, visited for a few days with John and Roberta Templeman and family. All family members were guests at the surprise 25th anniversary celebration for Russell and Audrey Ische on Saturday evening at the Legion Hall, Mitchell. CECILIA RYAN 345-2028 Family, relatives and former neighbours of Mary Moylan from McKillop Township gathered together with her on Saturday afternoon at the Knights of Columbus Hall, St. Columban to help her in celebrating her 80th birthday. Family members present for the celebra- tion were Catherine Janossy of Walkerton, Don and Rita Moylan and family, Bill and Luella Murphy and family, Sister Jean Moylan of Windsor, Gordon and Kate Moylan. and Angus of St. Mary's, her sister Catherine O'Reilly of Stratford, her brother, Joe Lane and her sister -in -law- -Margaret Lane of Seaforth. All attended the celebration of Mass 'by Father J. Hardy, offered for her intentions, at. 5 p.m. at St. Columban Catholic Church. . Following Mass a dinner was served to•the immediate family at the K. of C. Hall. On November 23, 1989, Sister Jean Moylan graduates from the Ontario In- stitute for Studies in Education at the Manor University of Toronto with a Master m Education degree with specialization in Guidance and Counselling. Special thanks to the kitchen staff for Christening the new room. Rev. Greg Gilson from St. Thomas Anglican Church led the weekly church service in the afternoon. After the service Rev. Gilson honored questions about East and West Germany from interested residents. Aaron Ford, Bruce Griffin, Vanessa Brown and Tonya Boniface, all students from the Grade 5/6 class at Seaforth Public School visited with some of the residents. Everyone enjoyed listening to them on the piano!! In keeping with the musical enjoyment, Carol Carter tickled the ivories Tuesday afternoon as residents sang along. Special requests bellowed through the halls! On Wednesday, Mamie Ross, Marg Swale, Marg Haase, Gertie Taylor, Elmer Bakscy and Pat Ryan ventured to Nor- thside's Luncheon. Special thanks to volunteer Doreen Kelly for her help. Later Wednesday afternoon the New din- ing room was opened with timbits ,and a specialty punch for all! "It was well worth waiting for" exclaimed resident, Frank Smale ! Thursday afternoon Father Caruana led the monthly mass service. Laurence Ryan attended with his wife Marjorie and Mar - die Maloney attended with her mother Mary K. Ryan. It's always nice to have them both.
