the four younger children. Dickinson &
Garrow for plaintiffs. Protdfoot, Hays
& Blair for the defendants. The case
of Campbell v. Tilden was settled oat of
court. In the oleo of Quaid v. Hamilton
an order was made at Osgocde Hall dur.
ing the week betting aelde ti#Q notiQQ et
trial, on the motion of W. Prondfoot, K.
0., for the plaintiff. Scott et al v, Smith
for an action brought by the executors
of the will of the late Wm. Scott of
Weat Wawanosh, for legal distress of
goods and chattels. Judgment was en.
tared by consent against the defendant
for 4380 10, he to have the right of notion
against a third party, The trial judge
was the Honorable Chief Justice Sir W.
R. Meredith. It is stated as likely that
the township of Colborne will appeal the
decision in the Ivers case.
The Wingham baseball club, accom-
panied by a handful of leather -hinged
rooters, went over to Lucknow Friday
afternoon and opened the Lakeside
League for the season with the team of
that village. After some delay, the
game was called, Mr. R. Ross, of Kin-
cardine, being the arbitrator. Lucknow
first tcok the field, their battery, McCoy
Brialan, being in the points. Moore, the
first man up, let No. 1 go by, as it was
not to his liking, but with a swing
landed the second for one base, being
sacrificed by Moorehead to third. With
one out, Britton put the ball at Thom-
son, and Moore scored, Britton going
out at first, and Pearen, next man up,
was thrown out at first. In Lucknow
half, Dunlop made it one, two, three.
and Brialan repeated the dose when
Wingham took second inning, although
two men reached first and second.
Lucknow half resulted in a hit by Bris-
lan for one base, and one by Jepson, the
former scoring. The third inning was
started by More, who pat a three -base
ticket on one of Brislan's "benders",
Britton again bringing in the runner.
This ended the scoring until the sixth
inning, when hits by Britton, Pearen,
Workman, Aitcheaon, and a pretty
bnnt by Fleming landed three runs for
Wingham, and cinched the game, as
Lucknow was well taken care of by the
visitors, and only succeeded in landing
one more, in the seventh, by two drives
in succession by Jepson and Thomson,
the latter scoring, Moore and Longman
retiring the aide by catching long "flies."
The last three innings was "24th of
May" baseball, and resulted in nine runs
for the visitors, Dunlop, Pearen, Aitehe-
son and Workman doing much stick
work, Lucknow failed to circle the
bases, although at times they were close
to it, but a pretty stop by Aitoheson on
second, and Workman at short. broke
up the fireworks. R. Roes, of Kincar-
dine, was an impartial umpire, and will
always be welcome with the indicator
when Wingham nine are on the diamond.
The teams:—'
Wingham:—Moore, Moorehead, Brit-
ton, Pearen, Workman, Aitcheson,Long-
man, Fleming, Dunlop.
Lucknow:—MCCoy, Findlater, Hab-
bick, Brialan, Thomson, W. Johnston,
Jepson, Reid, R. Johnston.
The score by innings: -
