Smith family holds
THE CLINTON BRANCH of the Cargill Fertilizer company celebrated their 25th
anniversary of business, with a barbecue and reception at the plant on July 6.
Cargill President Kerri Hawkins (shown here) was on hand to speak to company
customers and and employees, as was local MP Murray Cardiff. Cargill purchas-

SMITH REUNION
The families of the late Oliver and Mary
Smith of Grey held a bi-annual reunion
recently at the Walton Community Hall.
Over 60 relatives attended and enjoyed a
sst'torgasbord dinner. Guests from Hanover,
Windsor, London, Arva, Mississauga,
Hamilton, Brussels and surrounding area
had the opportunity to socialize and
reminisce with familiar faces and new
acquaintances.

mystery tour! Enjoy the sights and
sounds of Huron County! We will be less
than 25 miles from home but will see
things from thousands of miles away.
All interested in going must meet at the

annual birthday party
with court Fascination
Canadian Foresters Lodge Court Con-
stantine of Kinburn hosted the annual
Birthday Party with Court Fascination of
Benmiller on Monday June 26.
A smorgasbord salad supper was serv-
ed to 45 members, followed by Court
Whist. High prize was won by Sister
Mary Riley and Sister Linda Ribey won
the low.
Three lucky prizes were won by Sisters
Lucy Johnston, Bev Orr and Janice
Preszcator.

HUMPHRIES PICNIC
On Sunday June 25 the fourth annual
Humphries Picnic was held at the Walton
Hall. Twenty-four adults and nine children
attended a fun -filled day.
A potluck lunch was the first thing on the
agenda. Following a delicious meal, games
for the children and adults were enjoyed.
Games included the sack race, a balloon
toss, a scavenger hunt and many more.
Young and old participated in the annual
ball game with the girls against the guys. At
the completion of the ball game Most
Valuable Players awards were presented to
Terry Nichol for the guys and Peggy Hum-
phries for the girls. A potluck supper follow-
ed, using up all the left overs from lunch.
People attended from Arva, Bayfield,
Brussels, London, Mississauga,
Pahfierston, Sarnia and Walton.

You are reminded of the shower for
Patricia Hackwell this Friday evening at
8:00 p.m. in the basement of Duff's church.
It is being planned by Walton I unit ladies.

45T11 WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Leslie Bolton and the former Dorothy
Wright were married 45 years ago on
June 24, 1944, at Brussels, Ontario. After
their marriage they farmed on the 14th,
McKillop Twp., until 1955. In 1957 they
moved to Hespeler, Cambridge. The cou-
ple has one daughter, Elizabeth h who is
married to Robert Bowman of Cam-
bridge, Ont. They have two grand-
children, Jeffrey and Andrea. A family
dinner was held at St. Jacob's when the
couple received a 400 day clock from
their family.

day, July 9 at the Lions Park, Seaforth.
The McCallum-McKelvie wedding took
place July 8th at Walton United Church.

Walton celebrated their fiftieth wedding
anniversary on July 7 with an open house
at Kinburn Hall.

chewan are visiting their parents,
relatives and friends and attended the

Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton attended the
wedding of Don's nephew at Shelbourne on
July 1. Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Cotton from
North Bay visited on the weekend with the
Cottons.
Mrs. Alf King, son Ken and wife and their
daughter Mary, all of Brantford visited her
brother Harold Smalldon in the Callander
Nursing Home, and also called on Mrs. Mac
Engel. Harold will be 94 years old July 8.
On June 14 Mrs. Harold Bragg hosted a
bridal shower for Maria Cunha, fiancee of
Allan Knight, RR 3 Brussels. Delicious
desserts provided by Lois Hart, Yvonne
Knight, Nancy Van ass, Velma Locking and
Ann Bragg were served by the hostess and
Velma. Twenty friends and neighbors
presented Maria with many lovely gifts.

The Mitchell and District Chamber of
Commerce organized a bus trip to take spec-
tators to the Skydome in Toronto July 5. Mr.
and Mrs. Murray Crawford and son Hugh
were fortunate to secure seats on the bus.
They observed a ball game between the
Toronto Blue Jays and the Baltimore
Orioles. The Mitchell and District High
school Glee Club sang the national anthems
at the opening of the game.
