CenteL.Jires take ones lose
BY GARY GRAY
In O•H.A. Western Jr,action last weekend theCentenaires split a pair off
games thus foiling to gain
any ground in the standings.
On Friday night in Hensallthey couldnt do anything
wrong as they handed the
lowly Port Stanley Lions a
10-4 drubin, while on Sun-
day night to Exeter they
couldn't do anything right as
'They suffered an 8-1 blow out
from the Hawks. The Cen-
tenaires and Hawks went
nto Sunday's game tied for
the fourth and final playoff
position. The victory for
Exeter now .gives them a two
point edge on the Centenair-
es, with the locals still having
played two fewer games. The
Centenaires are also just two
points ahead of the last place
Mitchell Hawks.
Against Port Stanley the
Centenaires broke the game
open with five third period
goals. The first period saw
the Centenaires take a 3-1
lead despite being outshot
,.18-11. The second frame was
much closer with each team
scoring twice and Port Stan-
ley outshooting the Cente-
naires 12-10.
Dan McClure turned in
another strong performance
in the Seaforth nets before
being ,replaced by rookie
Keith McClure midway
through the third period with
the Centenaires holding a 9-3
lead. The Centenaires• out -
shot the Lions 15-11 in the
final period.
The McLlwain brothers
Mark and Dave paced the
Centenaire offence with
seven points between them.
