Davis returned home last week from a pleasant holiday with. their son' Robert Davis and immediate relatives at Mine- head, Summerset, England. Mrs. William O'Brien, Todd and Stacey of Brigden, visited recently with the former's mother, Mrs. J. Flynn. Rev. Kenneth Knight con- ducted worship in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sun- day, speaking on the subject "Reformed and Reforming". Mrs. Joan Keyes of Exeter presided at the organ for there, service of song. The flowers in the sanctuary were placed ittmemory of the late Donald Hoggarth, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hoggarth, residents of Hensall, and valued members of Carmel Church. The ladies will hold their annual (Bazaar and Tea on Saturday, November 6 at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is wel- name. The "Three Links" Sen• iors will meet on Tuesday, November 9th at 8:00 p.m. Queensway Nursing Home 'Queensway Nursing Home residents enjoyed bingo and treats on Monday afternoon. "Thanks" to Unit 1 of Hensall United Church. Rev. A. Blaak of Exeter conducted worship at the home last week. Mr. George Mathonia, Mr. Jim Young and Mrs. Nelson Howe provided some beautiful music for the re- sidents on Wednesday even- ing. A group of Hensel) Explorers dressed 'in - Hallowe'en costume treated the residents last week, DANA KLOSS was one of 60 grade eight students at Huron Centennial public school, Brucefield, who devoured a 20 foot ice cream sundae. The treat was awarded to the students for selling and raising the most money in Canada through a magazine sales program. f the $6,200 raised, one third will be used by the students for a trip to Ottawa. The average student sold 9.5 subscriptions andt raised ,$100, each. One-third of the proceeds will be used for a trip to Ottawa. A special reward for having the highest sales in the nation, was a 20 foot ice cream sundae. Half an hour was spent making the sundae which included 16 litres of ice cream, nuts. cherries, chocolate saude and whipped cream. it took less than five minutes for the 60 students to eat it. Madeline Harburn, who underwent eye surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital, London on Tuesday, return- ed to her home on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Dyke of Bradford spent a few days last week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol. "The impossible Dream" was the theme of the sermon on Sunday morn - inn at the United Church. Rev. McDonald , spoke on how we try to meet life on our own and the result is frust- ration and anger; but in order to realize some of our impossible dreams we need to take Christ into our hearts and let him direct our laves. The Junior Choir sang an old Scottish Psalter from the 15th century, "We Thank You Father For The Church". Gait Shaw sang the "Amazing Grace" following the prayer of confession and "They'll know we are Christ- ians by our Love" following the sermon. Doug Klopp was the organist for the service and Joyce Pepper assisted the Junior Choir on the piano. Ushers for the day were Ross Sararas, Lloyd (Ferguson, - Steven Corbett,arld Alf Ross. Jim McGregor was the greet- er for the congregation. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker presented a gift to the Memorial (Fund in loving memory of their children, Dorothy Dailey and her son, Steven, and Gerald Parker. The congregation were also reminded that next Sunday would be Remembrance Day Service and November 14, Anniversary with Rey. W.D.
