Free to chooses leaders in Canada ,
THE HURON EXPOSITOR, NOVEMBER 3, 1982 ® A5
Correspondent
JOAN CRONIN
345.2972
On Monday, November 8,
all who are 18 years of age
and over will gef the
pii,, liege, of exercising their
democratic right to vote.
Some say why bother, others
say why --and some say' why
not? It is so easy for us to
complain about the state of
affairs in the country
whether it be regional or
federal, but unless you exer-
cise your constitutional right
to vote, one cannot honestly
gripe about the outcome.
Choosing the right candi-
date is often a very difficult
task. Some cast their ballot
for a friend, while the
undecided say tick-tack-toe
and put their' little "X".
But, the politically con-
scientious voter seeks out the
qualities of loyalty, respect,
trust and leadership and
most of all motivation. Why
is the candidate of your
choice seeking this position?
By now he knows he will be
criticized, questioned and
condemned, No matter; how
hard he or she tries they will
notsatisfy everyone. Is he or
she seeking office for its
monetary • return, for the
glory and power the position
holds or for the betterment of
the people they will re=
present?
This year there are elect-
ions in this area for the
trustees in the village of
Dublin, for reeve, deputy
reeve, councillors and public
and separate school board,
members, so we have our
work cut out for us'.
A' Remember when you cast
your ballot you are electing
the most competent in-
dividuals who will represent
you and spend your hard
earned tax dollars. When you,
go to'the polls in your area on
Monday do not look back
over • petty incidents with
thoughts like 'That will teach
