Breakins investigated
Exeter OPP are investigating two break-
ins in Hensall which occurred on Friday.
October 8. in the late eventn . The break-ins
occurred at Ed Taylor store where
approximately 5120 was taken and at Don's
Food Market, where loss is estimated at
about 5500.
The articles reported taken from Taylor's
included a pair of jeans. coins, and work
clothing. From Don's, the OPP reported,
cigarettes and several roasts were taken.
No charges have been laid and police are
continuing their investigation.

The Walton Unit held their
meeting ip the church base-
ment.' Wednesday evening
October 13 with 17' ladies
present.
The Call to Worship was
given by Mrs. Allan McCall.
Scripture lesson was taken
from Psalm 95: 1.2 followed
by meditation on Thanksgiv-
ing. A reading "Thanksgiv-
ing Thought" was read by
Mrs. McCall.
Mrs. Ray Huether took as

Thanksgiving. reading timely
poems on "Burdens" and
"Thankoffering". She show-
ed slides on Bermuda. along
with Mrs. Viola Kirkby giving
commentary, telling of their
trip to that island in August.
Mrs. A. McCall presided
or the business. Mrs. How -
$z and Hackwell read the min•
utes and took the roll call.
Articles of interest were read
from the Alert letter. There
was a discussion on the
upcoming turkey supper.

There are a few items to
report from the Executive
meeting Thursday. In regard
to hall rental there is now a
contract to be signed by
whoever rents the hall. This
policy will be in effect as of
Jan. 1st. 1983.
Anyone who has a date
reserved for the coming year
will be asked to please sign
this agreement and pay a 550
deposit. This deposit will be
refunded if a cancellation is
made thirty days in advance
or will be considered part of
the hall rent if the function is
held.
A report was heard from
the president, Peter Malcolm
about the plight of the Air
Force Cadets now training
once a week at Vanastra
Apparently with the cominfg
of the colder weather they
have no way of heating their
premises. A donation for
them will be discussed at the
general meeting.
The tickets for the Veter-
an's Banquet on Nov. 6 are
now being sold. If by any
chance you have not been
contacted please phone or see

the Traviss' motored to
Guelph where they spent
Monday with Mr, and Mrs.
Ken Moffett and Brett.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Reid
and Mrs. Edna Hackwell,
Seaforth were Saturday eve•
ning supper guests with Mr,
and Mrs. Lawrence Ryan.
Sister Teresa Ryan of London
also spent the weekend at the
home of her parents.
Miss Ruth Thamer, Wood-
stock spent the weekend at
the home of her mother.

anniversary open house on
Sunday for Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Schade at Duff's

United Church.

president conducted the wor-
ship service. Scripture read-
ings from Deuteronomy 26:
16-19 and Colossians 3: 12-17
was readily Mrs. Helen Craig
followed, by prayer' led by
Mrs. Karen Hoegy.
The choir consisted of all
ladies with anthems: "Wor-
ship the Lord" and "One Day
at a time". accompanied by
Mrs. Godkin at the organ and
Mrs, Huether at the piano.
The story in song, "Think"
was told to the children prior
to then going to the base-
ment with their teachers.
Mrs. Joyce Van Vliet sang'
N'10 !piano accompaniment by
-Mrs. Huether.
Mrs. Edith Wey introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. Anne
Eggelson. (yho spoke on
"The Hinges of 'Destiny".
Her husband is the Rev.
Einar Eggelson, They now
live in Corunna. Mrs, Eggel-
son is the past president of
London Conference. and she
was the first lay person to be
elected to the post.

A Seaforth lady is a member of a p;uncer Blanchard
Township family which was profiled in last week's edition
of the St. Marys Journal Argus. Mary Robertson is one of
the eight children of the late Richard and Agnes Hawkins.
All eight are still alive. and the original Hawkins farm is
still in the family. Mrs. Robertson's daughter, Bessie
Broome, lives in Eg'mondville.
Mr. and Mrs. John Nottingham, Ladner. B.C.. former
residents of the Kinburn area are visiting with Mr, and
Mrs. Lorne Lawson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riley and other
\friends around the district.
SDHS students will be among those visiting the
' University of Waterloo today, Wednesday, to take part in
the University's Arts Day. it's a brief introduction to
university education and the local students will take part in
lectures. seminars and class discussions.
Elaine and Ray Baker, Alanna and Adrienne of London
and Mary and Mitch Moore and Kristen of Burlington
were weekend guests with their mothef• Wilma Oke. Their
father, Orville Oke, is still a relent in University Hospital,
London.
Terry Johnston. head of the phys ed department at
SDHS is this year's president of the Ontario Physical and
Health Educators Association. The group held its annual
conference at Geneva Park, Orillia on the weekend. The
conference, attended by 250 delegates. focussed on the
teaching of physical education in various parts of the
world. Delegates saw the Skipits. a precision rope -jumping -
team from Boulder, Colorado, which is coming to Huron
County soon. Skipits will be introducing a Jump Rope for
Heart Program, sonosored by the OPHEA and the Ontario
Heart Foundation which is to be implemented in schools
across the province.
