Brussels beauties vie for crown
Thirteen Brussels area
young ladies will be vying for
the Queen of the Fair crown
on Saturday. September 11,
The large number is in
contrast to Zurich where a
Bean Festival Queen contest
was cancelled due to a lack of
entries.
In its third season, the
Queen of the Fair contest has
seen an increase in the
number of contestants each,
season. The 198) contest had
10 contestants. The event is.
sponsored by the Brussels
Agricultural Society and co-
incides with the annual fall
fair.
The girls will be interview-
ed by the judges prior to a
dinner at the Olympia Rest-
aurant, Returning to the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre, contest-
ants will be introduced by
M.P. Murray Cardiff, Each
girl will present a speech on
the topic,
"What 1 hope to contribute to
society during my lifetirne."
Dancing will begin follow-
ing the speeches. until 10:30
when the new Queen will be
crowned by last year's queen.

Brussels
FIRE DESTROYED a barn owned by Morris Hemingway,
Thursday evening, August 26. The two alarm blaze was turned
in at 9;15 p.m. The barn, located on lot six, concession 11, Grey
township was engulfed in flames when the Brussels and Grey
fire departments arrived on the scene. Brussels fire chief,
Howard Bernard said grain was being threshed in the barn at
the time of the fire. Some machinery and the barn was
destroyed, Chief Bernard said cause was unknown. An
estimate of damages was not available.
