A large United Church congregation attended the outdoor service on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hardy at Maitland river bank. south of Londesboro. Welcoming were Lorne Hunking and Jim Jamieson. Rev. Scott thanked Mr. and Mrs. Hardy for their gener- ous hospitality and an/ nounced the month of August is a church holiday. Next service is August 29 at 11 a.m. Colin Swan. the new student minister, will be in charge. The singing was led by Ken Scott with guitar. Collection was received by Darlene Halley, Elizabeth Lawson and Karen and Kim Wright. The meditation was a fare- well message. Ministers are made not born Mr. Scott said and everything works for good. He spoke on a Billy Graham film. and his concern about moving to Fernie B.C. Musical offering was Ken Scott and children Billy Jim and Christie singing "Open Up Your. Heart and Let the Sun Shine In-. After Benediction Bert Lyon invited Rev. Bob. Shir- ley. Debbie. Angela and Kenneth to the front. Marg- aret Whyte, clerk of session, read an address expressing appreciation for their three years of service. and to Shirley for Bible studies. A gift was presented by Elgin Penfound from the session, a barometer with a plaque from Londesboro United ,Church 1982. Following the service a bountiful pot' luck lunch was held. All gave thanks to the Hardys for pork roast and the ice cream. After. lunch the young people enjoyed the swimming pool. In charge of the pool we're Brenda Radford and Kevin Hulley. MUSIC RESULTS Mrs. Gail Lear of Londes- boro, was pleased to hear that she has successfully com- pleted the last half of her practical exam for the Asso- ciate Teachers diploma in Piano with first class hon- ours. Having now completed all the requirements, both practical and theoretical. she will receive her Associate of Music degree from the West- ern Ontario Conservatory of Music. at their fall convoca- tion. with an overall Honours standing. Last year, she was the recipient of the Cora Ahrens Award from the On- tario Registered Music Teachers Assoc, for the high- est mark in the Teachers written paper.
