The Huron Expositor, 1982-07-21, Page 25IDubllOot © ©in@ Dublin's class of '57 has reunion Correspondent JOAN CRONIN 345.2772 Every weekend seems to be busy with gatherings of one kind or another but this past weekend held something ex- tra special for the graduating class of 195/ from the Dublin Continuation School. It was a class reunion and what a wonderful way to turn the clock back. From the time we entcr school until graduation we meet many different and wonderful people, each pos- sessing a ,unique personality which will leave us with a lifetime of memojies as this class found out. "D.C,S, the school that we call our own. Proud we are of the spirit .for .which it's known—. Strains of this chorus punc- tuated the 25th anniversary celebration hosted by Mrs. Marion Kelly at her home in Kinkora on July 24. Excited meetings took place. outside $t. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Dublin where the group ga- thered for a Mass of Thanks- giving, offered by Fr. Carri- gan on behalf of the Dublin High 1957 graduation class, class members from its start in Beechwood, St. Cotumban and Dublin elementary schools, and the teachers. A tour, of the former high school, now Separate School Board Offices, followed. Gratitude was expressed to the board, not only for the opportunity to see those memorable halls again, but for the preservation and im- provement of that fine build- ing. Later all assembled at Marion's farm for an outdoor pork barbecue and pot luck dinner. They renewed still fast-friend,ships, met hus- bands and wifes, perused old class pictures and partied. A highlight ofthe evening was a sing -song by the group, well known for its singing, and the night was topped off by dancing to the music of the fifties. HERMAN LEONHARDT 345-2419 Marci Scherbarth was one of 44 students from Perth County on a month long exchange with a French stu- dent from Montreal. Marci has returned from her two week stay in Montreal with her twin Nathalie Guil- ban at St. Leonardo, P.O. While in Montreal they visit - cd these places. the Montreal Subway SyStern, St. .loseph 's Oratory. St. Helen's Island Museum, a N.A.S.L. soccer game, a baseball game with the Montreal Expos. and a swim in the Olympic pool. She found i very interesting: but a noisy and busy city compared to Brodhagen. Marci•s twin Nathalie is in Ontario now. She speaks T;nglish quite well which is helpful in the Scherbarth household. While here they have gone to Grand Bend which is very new to her as they do not have beaches in Montreal. They have visite-d-the On- tario Science 'Centre and C.N.R. Tower in Toronto, and many sites in Stratford. This wcck they'll have a trip to Marincland in Niagara Falls. the African Lion Safari, and the Elora Gorge. 11 's a very exciting month that both girls will well remember for many years. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family of the late Mrs. Ed Scherbarth Sr. The funeral was held last Wednesday at St, Peter's Lutheran Church. Brodhagen with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Fred Kistner is a patient in the Stratford Gen' eral Hospital having under• gone surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery. Janice Pulfuss, Pam, Jen- ny and Scott of RR3. Mildmay spent last Wednesday visit' ing the formers aunts and family: Mrs, Rudolph Bauer. Marie Meyer. and Minnie Leonhardt. The potted yellow mums on the altar in St. Peter's Luth- eran Church on Sunday were in memory of the late Martin Diet?, placed there by his wife. Alice and family, The flowers in the chancel were from the Reis -Kummer wedding on Friday. The two baskets were from the funeral of Mrs. Ed Scher- barth Sr.' Which was held last Wednesday. More Dublin news on page 15 Mrs. Jean Carey hosted the July meeting of the Cromarty Ladies Aid at her home on Monday evening. July 19 with six ladies present. Roberta Templeman pre- sided opening with a poem "The More You Give" and a hymn. Jean Carey accom- panying on the piano. Roberta chose for the devo• tions. A journey we all take. taking her scripture passage from Genesis Chapter 33 and closing with the poem "But Once. In the absence of the secretary. Lillian Douglas gave a report on the May meeting. Roll call was answered w ith a household hint. The treasurer. Joyce Miller reported on the success of thc ham and strawberry supper in June. Mrs. Ede Murray and Mrs. Camilla Evans then spent some time in Niagara Falls with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans and family and with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cleary in London.
