WITH THERMOMETERS nudging 34 degrees
last Wednesday, it may have been possible to
barbecue pork chops on the Brussels sidewalks.
Instead, Clarence McCutcheon, left, Jim Smith,
and 'Jerry Dillow suffered through the heat
wave and barbecued over 500 chops. Proceeds
of approximately $400 will be used for expenses
of St. John's Anglican Church. Mr. Dillow said
the crowd thought the meal was delicious."

Morris to look at manure bylaw
• Morris Council will review the Liquid
Manure By-law adopted by the Huron County
Council, at the next regular meeting, council
decided at its July meeting.
Council was presented with a letter from
John Schenk. solicitor for Mr. and Mrs. Don
Fraser of RR2. Blyth. William Elston. the
reeve of Morris was authorized to meet with
Mr. Schenk and explain the original agree-
ment which the township authorized the road
superintendent to establish with the Erasers
before road construction began in 1981.
Last fall, Mr. and Mrs. Fraser agreed to
give the township necessary fill required for
road construction if the township replaced the
fence removed in the process and levelled the
arca following construction.. Mr. Fraser feels
the township did not meet the requirements.
Mr. Fraser hircd a bulldozer after the
township refused to level the properly to his
satisfaction. He said the township only put
topsoil back on.
Cost for the bulldozing was 51.855. In
addition Mr. Fraser wants the township to
pay for grass seed. an electric fence plus 40
cents a yard for the fill. for a total of 53,617..
Road Superintendent Lloyd Michie dis-
agreed that the township had not kept to the
bargain. He said everything was done which
was originally agreed upon.
He said the agreement was that Morris
township would remove the fence. push the
topsoil beat and take fill from the hill to build
up a hole which resulted when the road was •
lowered. Topsoil would then be levelled and a
new fence built along the road.
He said the township tried to fill % wet spot
behind the hill. upon the request of Mr.
Fraser. but the bulldozer operator got stuck
•
in the process.
"That's what our compensation (5496.60)
was offered for", explained Mr. Michie. He
said he was satisfied that the township stood
by the agreement.
In other council news: a tile drain loan
application by Bruce and Sharon Bromley
was accepted. subject to the availability of
funds.
Tile drainage loan allocations for the
township for 1982-83 are 5172,600.
Maitland Valley Conservation Authority
advised council that Raymond Schmidt of
Blnevale will be checking the water table at
the Bluevale Dam and advising the authority
if the water table rises.
A grant of 5400 will be forwarded in August
to the Morris township Federadon of
Agriculture in care of Ann Nesbitt. RR2,
Blyth.
Council has no objection to spot zoning for
lot eight and part lot nine, plan six,
concession four, in the township, part of the
hamlet of Belgrave which would allow a
trailer be placed on the lot. The lot is owned
by William Stapleton. who will be responsible
for all costs involved for the spot zoning.
Bell Canada was authorized to proceed
with the temporary removal of the telephone
cable from the Garniss Bridge on a "Flat Rate
. Rads", a charge of 5330 to the township
being acceptable.
• The prop., Irussels area fire agreement
was discussed with two options offered: that
Morris township agrees tb pay Brussels 5200
per hour for fire calls in the township and a
51.000 grant be forwarded to the village
yearly. or, Morris township agrees to pay
Brussels village 5300 per hour for fire calls in
the township of Morris.
