Marie and Pete Chessell, are on a vacation trip to Alberta, visiting with Al and Bonnie Switzer, and attend- ing the Calgary Stampede. Fifty,Staffa Women's lnsti-, tute members, their hus- bands and friends, attended and enjoyed the play "Down North" at the Blyth Summer Festival on Wednesday eve- ning .and later dined at the Triple K restaurant. Mrs. Carter Kerslake and -Mrs. Brodh Jack Burchill planned the evening. Upcoming events for the Staffa Women's Institute in- clude a bus trip on Thursday July 22. a Perth South District picnic at the Kirkton Com- munity. Centre on Wednesday August 4, and an open house at Si. Mary's Community Centre on Sunday afternoon August 8, when Institute members will have an oppor- tunity to meet, Mrs. Ziny Westebring-Muller, the A.C.W.W. president. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dock- ing. Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Docking have re- turned from a holiday in the western provinces. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahon have returned from a holiday in the Eastern provinces. Mr. and Mrs. John Temp- leman visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Fell, Joyce and Roger,* have re- turned from a two week vacation in' the western pro- vinces. They attended the Canadian Seed Growers Con- vention in Regina and visited with relatives in Calgary. He competed at the C,IM.L. Festival '82 held July 8-10 at the Val Hala Inn. Kitchener. Doug won first in the guitar solo and is proud of his trophy. David Stevenson and Doug Gilbert won 1st in the guitar duet. Again Congratulations to these fine young mu- sicians. Janice. Jason and Jeremy Beuermann spent the week- end with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Osborn RR2 Monkton. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Hy- mers and Gregory, ariii Jef- frey Beuermann visited at the same home on Sunday. Mr. Robert 'Gilbert has returned to his home on Saturday after being a patient in University Hospital. Lon- don. On Friday evening many relatives, neighbours and friends gathered at the Brod hagen Community Centre to help celebrate the 30th wed- ding anniversary of Edward and Margaret Scherbarth. Carl Vock was master of ceremonies, Wilbur Hoegy and Milton Dietz each con- tributed with a speech, rem- iniscing of the 30 years and more. Dancing was enjoyed to music by Claire French and his band. Prior to the evening cele- bration a family dinner was held in the community centre. 'Those attending from a dis- tance were Mr. and Mrs. John Koehler. Mt. Forest, Ralph Scherbarth of Detroit, Susan and Eric Lazear of Portland Oregon, etc. Susan and Eric remained for their holidays at the home of her • parents Edward and Margaret Scherbarth. Con- gratulations are extended to the young couple of 30 years. Numerous local people attended the Koehler - Flannigan wedding and re- ception on Saturday. His sire was burn- ed in a fire early this past spring. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dalton of Seaforth visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Regele. Joy McCowan spent eight days at the Lexington Ken- tucky Junior League show and sale of registered Amer- ican saddle -bred horses. While there she met with friends from Marion, lowa and Chicago. 111. and visited various breeding farms in the area. Dublin Bantams win tournament The Dublin Bantam ,Girls baseball team coached by Mrs. Anne Kelly. and Ray and Eleanor Maloney were yictorious as they defeated Si. Pants 10.1 to win the B" trophy in the tournament sponsored by the Downie ( optimist Club held on Satur• uay and Sunday in St. Pauls. Each ot the girls received an individual trophy as a mo - mento of their fine effort.
