Threshers reunion returning for 54th year

The Threshers reunion is returning
for a 54th year from September 11
-13.
A meeting on May 28, 1962 at the
home of Simon Hallahan was the
beginnings of the Huron Pioneer
Thresher & Hobby Association. The
meeting was to help organize a club of
people who were interested in steam
engines and threshing machines.
In keeping with tradition, this year's
featured steam engine is a 1918 20HP
Waterloo.
Gates open each day at 8 a.m. There
are various musical acts going on
throughout each day starting on Sep-
tember 8 in each of the sheds, at the
main stage and in the tent. Special
events, displays, crafts and working
displays will be ongoing throughout
the weekend.
Some of the weekend's events
include:
Friday
10 a.m. Fun tractor pull and horse
demonstration.
11 a.m. Threshing demonstration
12:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies
1 p.m. Fun tractor pull
1:15 pm. Threshing demonstration
4 p.m. Parade and Shriners' fish fry at
Lion's Park
Friday is elementary student activity
daywith activities throughout the day,
including a petting zoo. Friday is also
senior citizens day with admission at
only$6.
Saturday
7:30 a.m. Pancake breakfast at ESTC
building
10 a.m. Tractor pull and horse
demonstration
10:30 a.m. Threshing
demonstration
1 p.m. Tractor pull with garden trac-
tor pull to follow, children's garden &
lawn tractor rodeo and the children's
pedal tractor pull.
1:15 p.m. Threshing demonstration.
4 p.m. Parade
The fiddle competition registration
will start at 11 a.m. with the competi-
tion starting at 12:30 p.m. on Satur-
day. Awards will be handed out the
first, second, third and fourth place
winners in eight different categories.

The next meeting for the Stan Lee
Club will be held September 2 at 6 p.m.
with a potluck supper. Everyone
welcome!
The BCUC U.C.W. meeting was Sep-
tember 1 at 7:30 p.m. with a guest
speaker.
Paul Ross will be leading the service at
the Brucefield Community United
Church on September 6 and September
13.
There will be a Stewardship Meeting
September 8 at 7 p.m.

Brucefield on receiving prestigious hon-
our. Lieutenant Colonel Fred McGregor
was decorated with the Grand Declara-
tion of Chivalry of the Independent
Order of Odd Fellows in recognition of
his meritorious service to mankind.
This is awarded to very few individuals
around the world. Congrats
to Fred!
