Blyth Festival Singers begin new season
Happiness is singing in the
choir!
It is said that singing is good
for the body and the soul, and
singing in a community choir is
all about individuals coming
together for the sheer joy of
making beautiful music.
So treat yourself and join the
Blyth Festival Singers as they
begin another wonderful musi-
cal season! Whether you are a
first time participant or a sea-
soned singer, there is a place for
every voice in our choir.
The Blyth Festival Singers is a
welcoming, non -auditioned
community choir, which has
been going strong since 1980.
Our first practice will take place
on September 9 with registra-
tion starting at 7 p.m. Practices
are on Wednesdays from 7:30 -
9:30 p.m. in the June Hill Room
above the administrative
building of the Blyth Festival
Theatre. The entrance is at the
back of the
theatre off Dinsley Street. Our
first session will be topped off by
a social to give everyone an
opportunity to meet and
mingle.
Choir fees are $125 for the
season, with a 10 per cent dis-
count for a second family mem-
ber. Stu -dents fees are only $60.
Those who choose to sing for a
portion of the season may
arrange for pro -rated fees. And
first timesingers can attend
three free trial practices before
committing to the
choir!
The Blyth Festival Singers'
director Sharon Poelstra has
planned an exciting line up for
the season. The holiday concert
on December 6 will feature the
new Huron County Children's
Choir. On April 10 we will per-
form Rutter's Requiem. And our
fun and lively May 28 dinner
cabaret will feature special
guests, the newly reunited
"Whiskey Jack':
New this fall for choir mem-
bers is a workshop and social on
September 26 with an opportu-
nity to participate in several dif-
ferent activities including a
vocal and music skills classes, a
yoga session, and sectional and
full rehearsals.
We hope that you will join the
Blyth Festival Singers for a year
of learning and enjoyment,
making good music and friend-
ship. And invite your friends as
well. Let's get your happy on!
