Impaired driver
collides with building
Central Huron - Early on October 1
around 3:30 a.m. OPP officers were
dispatched to a restaurant located on
Ontario Street in Clinton to investigate
a motor vehicle collision. Police arrived
on scene to find damage to some
bricks on the west wall of the building
from an apparent collision. Through
investigation officers were able to
locate the driver of the Kia inside the
restaurant where it was noted she had
been drinking alcohol. The driver com-
plied with a demand for a roadside
screening test, which resulted in a fail.
She was placed under arrest and
transported to the Huron OPP Detach-
ment where she provided two samples
of her breath to a qualified intoxilizer
technician. Both samples registered
over the legal limit.
As a result the accused, from Central
Huron, has been charged with drive
motor vehicle — over 80 milligrams of
alcohol and drive while disqualified.
She has been released from custody
with a court appearance scheduled.
She also received an automatic 90 day
driver's licence suspension.
