Radars split games on weekend
0 n Friday night,
December 11,
the Clinton Radars
pounded the twine with 9
goals in romping to a con-
vincing 9-2 win over the
visiting 4 -Wheel Drives
from Milverton.
Ryan Murphy led the
assault by collecting 6
points on 4 goals and 2
assists. Ryan has now
dented the twine 21 times.
Luke Vick, another high -
scoring centre, chipped in
with 5 points on 1 goal
and 4 assists. With Luke's
scoring prowess, he now
has 29 points and sits in
fourth place in the scor-
ing race in the Southern
Senior A Division.
Tyler Doig, who trails
the scoring leader Kurtis
Bartliff in second place,
picked up 1 assist and
now has 39 points. Hard-
working Sean Consitt
Joey's Corner
Joe Livermore
added 2 goals and 2
assists to maintain his
fifth place position in the
scoring race.
Others finding the back
of the net were Deryk
Whitehead and Brendan
Dale. Picking up assists in
the contest were Deryk
Whitehead, Mike Jarmuth,
Tyler Bryson, Randy Kil-
burn and Josh Cornelis -
sen with 2 assists.
Milverton broke on top
first as Andrew Tapsell
beat Clinton goalie Marc
Nother from the slot on a
powerplay. The Radars
were playing two men
short at the time. A min-
ute after the 4 -Wheel
Drive goal, Luke Vick tied
the game up at 1-1 on a
nifty deke. At 15:53 of the
first period, Ryan Murphy
scored the first of his 4
goals on a nice feed from
Vick. Milverton's Tapsell
evened the game up at 2-2
before the end of the
period.
After that it was all
Radars as they continued
to pepper the Milverton
goalie.
Clinton scored 5 unan-
swered goals in the sec-
ond period and 2 more in
the third.
Marc Nother played
another strong game in
the Radar's cage, stopping
28 shots for his 14th win
of the season against an
overtime loss. He lowered
his goals against average
to 1.82.
Referee Steve Gould
handed out 22 minutes in
penalties to Clinton and
10 minutes to Milverton.
Seaforth snaps Radars'
winning streak
On Saturday night,
December 12, the Sea -
forth Centennaires
snapped the Radars' win-
ning streak at 10 games.
The Radars must have
thought that they had run
into a brick wall in this
game as Seaforth's goalie
stood on his head turning
away 52 shots in leading
his own team to a 7-4 vic-
tory. Many of Jesse Ray-
mond's saves were of the
sensational variety as
time after time he
thwarted the Radar
shooter. Raymond, who

The news from Londesborough
CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 29
The Christmas story is
very familiar to Christians
and each year they turn to
that same story. The prob-
lem is it can become too
familiar; we need to
approach it with new eyes,
with a new perspective.
This year throughout
Advent Rev. Fletcher has
been following 'the story'
and injected some new ideas
that give congregants pause.
This particular Sunday,
Londesborough United
looked at 'the road trip: The
story seems to have taken
place in just a short time but
that may not necessarily be
so.
The trip to Bethlehem was
necessitated by the census of
Cesar Augustus. Joseph and
Mary were forced to walk
about 113 km to be counted.
As we might on a long trip
Terry noted the items they
would have to pack, food,
water, clothes, preps for a
new baby and Joseph's tools
[during their time away
Joseph would have needed
to work].
The couple travelled with
others for the road was
tough and not particularly
safe from thieves. And the
roads in Judea were clogged
with travellers en route to
being counted. Gratefully
residents along the way were
welcoming and kind. We can
assume Joseph might have
had relatives in Bethlehem
with whom he'd have hoped
to lodge. Seemingly they
were already overcrowded
and rooms were scarce in
the city. We can assume the
couple spent some time
learning about the city,
enjoying the sight of the
Tower of the Flock, and visit-
ing with others and Joseph
worked at his carpentry
trade.
One might wonder if
Joseph's female relatives
were there to help Mary
when the time can for her
child to be delivered. Shep-
herds at the tower were the
first to learn the news of the
Holy Birth from the angels.
An astronomer in the east
who noticed the new star
spread the news to his
fellows.
Rev. Fletcher read the
story of 'the road trip' from
Luke 2:1 - 20 in the King
James Version. The respon-
sive psalm was Psalm 100.
December 20 is Christmas
Sunday and there will be a
Christmas Eve Service on
December 24 at 7:00 p.m.

Sarnia Sting credentials
made the game miserable
for the Radar shooters.
Not to take anything
away from Raymond's
performance, but the
Radars were missing
many key components in
this game. Missing for
various reasons were Kur-
tis Bartliff, Tyler Doig,
Mike Jarmuth, Marcus
Salo, Jordan Currie and
goalie Marc Nother.
Scoring goals for Clin-
ton were Stefan Salituro
with 2 markers and single
goals for Sean Consitt and
Ryan Murphy.
With Radar goalie Marc
Nother away, Jacob Riley
was called up to tend the
cage. Being a little rusty at
the Senior A level, Jacob
played a good game even
thought he was bombed
for 6 goals, with the last
goal going into an empty
net. It didn't help either
with Clinton missing 4
defencemen.
Leading the Centen-
naires' attack was
Brendan Merritt with a
hat trick. Single markers
were scored by Scott Hen-
derson, Mitch Smith, Kyle
Walker and Jamie Aikin.
The Radars next home
game is this Friday night
at 8:30 p.m. as the Tavis-
tock Royals come to town.
It will be the Radars' last
home game before the
Christmas break.
Because it is the last
game, the Radars and
their executive members
are calling it "Fan Appre-
ciation Night': The execu-
tive and players are ask-
ing their loyal fans to stick
around after the game to
meet the players and have
some hot chili and cold
beverages. Hope to see
you there!
