Hello! Welcome to Queensway News.
This week this column will focus on
February 14 and Queensway's annual
"Volunteer Appreciation Party."
Valentine's Day just seemed like the
perfect day to express appreciation to the
many wonderful volunteers. Residents
welcomed the opportunity to be on the giv-
ing side as they presented a great pro-
gram consisting of welcoming remarks by
Dorothy Insley, Whistling solo by Lloyd
McDougall, a poem "My Git Up and Go
Got Up and Went" by Jessie Armstrong, a
poem "A True Friend" by Lavina Watson,
and piano and guitar selections by Joyce
Pepper and Doug Insley.
Reverend Larry Stojokovic, Queensway's
volunteer Chaplain led a devotional, "What
Is a Volunteer." Residents ended the pro-
gram by singing several hymns. Prize win-
ners included Marie Flynn who guessed
closest for the number of jelly beans in a
jar contest. She won the jar of jelly beans.
Lil Baker won Sugar and Spice chocolates
for "Lady wearing the most red." Adam
Wilson won for gentleman in most red.
A luncheon was served following the pro-
gram when volunteers had an opportunity
to visit and find out what each other is do-
ing. At this time residents presented each
volunteer with a single red carnation.
Some of the volunteer groups come two
to three times a year, while some such as
the ladies auxiliary members visit almost
