Legion contestants Chairman of the Youth Education, Com- rade Bruce Wilbee reported at the January meeting, he had five winners out Of eight entries at the Zone litery contest. Two finds and three seconds. All five received a certificate and cheque and the two firsts will go to the District competition which will be judged near the end of this month. The Legion would like to congratulate all the students who participated, especially the two whose entries will be advancing to District. The following are the winners: - Sarah lamble, S.P.S. 1st Junior Poster; Kathy Devereaux, St. James, 2nd Junior Peom; Lisa Gingerich S.P.S, 2nd Junior Essay; Sharon Kelly, S.D.H.S., 1st In- termediate Essay, and Dave Kelly, S.D.H.S., 2nd Senior Essay. Comrade John MacDonald, after two Lioness Club holds The January meeting of the Lioness Club was held last Tuesday at the Acropol Restaurant. An auction was held to help raise a few funds. Members were to bring something they did best. (Hidden Talent). The talents were many. The grocery draw went well bringing in $111.50. The draw for the hooked rug wall hanging donated by Don Corbett will be made at the February meeting, which will be February 20 at "Ginettes" Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. Please have all tickets and monies in to Lioness Heather by that date. Chocolate Easter bunnies will be arriving shortly and the cost is being kept the same as last, year, $3 a bunny. Lioness Dorothy Hays have volunteered to be chairperson this year. An invitation was received from the Har - QUEENSWAY win big at LEGION NEWS by Gordon Scott cancellations, finally made his official visit as Zone Commander. The Deputy Zone Commander Ed Pyette and his wife June, who is the Zone Secretary, accompanied him. At the conclusion of the meeting a Leadership seminar was held under the leadership chairman and 1st Vice President Gordon De Jong. It was followed by a light lunch served by the Auxiliary. Charter members that are still with this club are Lioness Dorothy Hays, Ruth Thorburn, Betty Coleman, Viola Taylor, and Freances Teatero. Although she never held an office, her presence was always felt. We have lost a Lioness, but most of all, a friend. We will miss her terribly. Queensway residents enjoy ''testa Hello! Welcome to Queensway News! Monday morning residents gathered in the Sun Room to listen to the Hensall United Church service on tape. In the afternoon Fun and Fitness, followed by games, limbered up minds and bodies. Reverend Arbogast of the Exeter Chris- tian Reformed Church led the worship ser- vice Tuesday afternoon. Queensway chaplain Reverend Stojokovic visited later in the day, providing visitation and counselling for anyone desiring it. WEDDINGS Ladies of Queensway's Volunteer Aux- iliry provided assistance at games hour Wednesday afternoon. Everyone enjoyed the games and visiting. Conestoga College Health Care Aide students arrived, Thursday for their clinical day, so several residents benefited from an abundance of "TLC from the stu- dent assigned to them. The film "Coun- try", dramatizing the farm crisis situation was shown in the evening. Friday morning energetic residents had their usual morning workout at Fun and Fitness. In the afternoon they were glad they had, as they feasted on fresh baked raisin scones at Baking Club. Everyone agreed the taste test is the best part. Coming events for Queensway are: January 24 at 2:30 p.m. a Memorial Ser- vice ervice for Elva Willert and January 25 at 7 - p.m. the Birthday Party, entertainment with Jack Simmons and friends. The tickets for the Honors and awards night are now available at the Branch and from Jim Watson -the chairman. This is be- ing held February 10 at the Branch. There will be a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. before the meal and the presentations after. The three teams entered in the Zone Tournament last Saturday had a good time.
