The Bruce Garden Harvest
Dinner held on September
17, 2015 at the Ripley -Huron
Community Centre was a
sold out event to raise funds
for the Bruce Botanical Food
Gardens (BBFG).
Nan Grant, Chair of
BBFG welcomed everyone
while they enjoyed the
meal and thanked all who
had been a part of the event
in any way. A special thank
you went out to Mary Rose
Walden for her incompara-
ble support of BBFG and
bringing about the Harvest
Dinner as a fundraising
event to maintain and
expand the garden and its
programs. A thank you also
went out to those who vol-
unteered, organized and
supported the Harvest Din-
ner in any way including
the "celebrity pie makers
and bringers", food suppli-
ers and chefs, and those
who donated items for the
live and silent auctions as
well as those who pur-
chased tickets for the din-
ner. BBFG is becoming a
cultural hub and a tourism
draw as it has been placed
on the Explore the Bruce
tours. The gardens have
hosted 6,000 visitors
through the tours.
Grant invited people to get
involved at BBFG. She

pointed out that age is not a
factor for participation as
some who are involved are
under the age of 12. It is a liv-
ing marketplace in Ripley.
Many more volunteers are
needed to continue to grow
the BBFG. All types of volun-
teers with varying skills are
needed such as web exper-
tise, contractors, builders,
plumbers, martketers, gar-
deners and those with com-
puter skills.
Ryan Berry was Master of
Ceremonies and Disc
Jockey for the Harvest Din-
ner. This is the second
annual Harvest Dinner.
Berry was also at the first
one. He stated, "I am really
happy that this is another
sold out event. I am happy
to be here. I believe in the
field to fork motto. I am glad
it is growing:'
Gary Fischer of Hoity Toity
Cellars described the event
as having a really nice crowd.
"I like working with the peo-
ple in the local area. You can
feel they are proud of their
history. They are passionate
about it." Fischer is
impressed that the munici-
pal staff are working and
watching all through the
event. He explains "they run
it like a business. They are
organized. The event is well
run."
Jodi MacArthur was at the
entrance table. She is glad to
see so many people return-
ing from the prior year, both
chefs and guests.
Changing Thyme Catering is a service provided by Community Living Kincardine and District. Amy
Boudrias of Tiverton and Sarah Davey of Kincardine proudly show the quinoa and kale salad they
prepared for the Bruce Garden Harvest Dinner on September 17, 2015.
Many of the attendees
were happy to give their
comments on the event.
Anne Finlayson
exclaimed, "It is absolutely
wonderful. It is even better
than last year!" Diane Gam-
ble adds, "The food is always
excellent."
Wendy Jones is a returning
diner. "It was awesome last
year. That is why we came
back this year."
