October ends
on a busy note
October is always a
busy month in
Canada with both
Thanksgiving and Hallow-
een being observed. Har-
vest and preparation are
both evident in this edi-
tion of the Sentinel.
The students and staff at
LCPS celebrated healthy
eating with their Big
Crunch. This is a reminder
to students and parents
that healthy eating, both at
school and at home, are
important to children's
development and learning.
A full turkey dinner was
in order to celebrate the
harvest at the Lucknow
Community Centre as the
Lucknow UCW served
over 300 meals over two
sittings. The Kingsbridge
community is resurrecting
their annual Harvest Din-
ner and Auction to be held
in Goderich this year as
renovations are yet to be
completed at the Kings-
bridge St. Joseph's Com-
munity Centre.
A beautification project
was completed by the Luc -
know Horticultural Society
with help from a grant
through Spruce the Bruce.
The flower bed beside the
main gate at the arena has
been totally revamped to
enhance the streetscape at
the intersection.
In preparation for more
major renovations, expan-
sion and equipment
replacement and pur-
chases, the Wingham Hos-
pital Foundation has
asked Huron -Kinloss to
commit to financial
five years as many of the
patients who use the ser-
vices reside in the munici-
pality. Improvements are
needed to meet new min-
istry standards and to
enhance patient care.
Preparation of a differ-
ent kind was highlighted
at the latest meeting of the
Lucknow Scribblers. Local
writers were given the
opportunity to their guest
speak on how to find and
approach a publisher to
have their work put into
print. The publisher com-
mented that the writers
present were already
doing something right in
their quest to be published
by already being members
of a writer's group.
With Halloween coming
up, please be sure to read
the tips for preparing for
the trick or treating sub-
mitted by the South Bruce
OPP. It is everyone's
responsibility to make it a
safe and fun experience.
The Poppy Drive will also
begin on October 31 as
being the last Saturday in
October. Watch for Luc -
know Legion Branch 309
members on the streets
beginning at noon to make
your donation and get your
Remembrance Poppy.
Another popular event
hosted by Legions in the
area is the jamborees. One
of these is held in the
Goderich Legion Branch
each week. Check for oth-
ers in the area to show you
support and appreciation
of your local musicians.

Happy 85th birthday to Mary
Taylor, many happy returns, Mary.
Last Thursday the Lucknow
Sepoy Ranees travelled to Lis-
towel for lunch at the Magic Wok
and then spent some time shop-
ping and wandering around the
town. It was a lovely fall day and
all enjoyed the outing.
Our little family (Diane, Tony
and I) travelled to Meaford last
Wednesday to meet up with my
sister and her hubby for lunch at
the Leaky Canoe in Meaford
before we spent the afternoon
visiting with our aunt Romelda
Douglas. We found her in good
spirits and left her with a few
small gifts and some hugs and
kisses.
Last Wednesday evening, the
Lucknow Rumoli Club got
together for their monthly even-
ing of cards, fun and food, but we
first watched the Jays win their
game before starting to eat. As
usual, some of us lost and some of
us won, it all evens out in the long
run. Just think, it's probably the
only place around where pennies
are still popular and in use.
Last Tuesday evening, Luc -
know United Church held their
annual turkey supper. It was as
usual delicious and a great
success.
Lucknow United recently cel-
ebrated their anniversary Sun-
day led by former members of
CGIT who are celebrating their
100th anniversary this year.
Tuesday's Table started again
this fall at Lucknow United
Church. The next dinner is on
Nov 24 at the Lucknow Commu-
nity Christian Reformed Church.

Dungannon Doings

It's baaaaack! Did you miss it?
A belated welcome to Steve
Ovecka and Braidyn Topor to
the village. They live on Joseph
Street and were recently blessed
with a baby girl, Keegan. Kevin
and Kristen are also new to
Dungannon, residing on South-
hampton Street. They have 2
children, Weston, and a brand
new baby Luke. A warm wel-
come to you all.
Kelsa Curran, daughter of
John & Donna, became a new
bride this month. Kelsa married
Rob Clark, and they reside in
Wingham along with their little
one, Kailyn.
There was a fire at the apart-
ment building on main street
earlier this month. Firefighters
were able to get the blaze under
control rather quickly and no
one was injured. Many Dungan-
non residents came out to see
what the fire trucks were about,
and there were almost as many
pajamas on main street that
night as there were at the last
shirt tail parade!
Well if you are looking for
something to do this weekend,
Dungannon is the place to be.
On Friday night there is a teen
dance at the Ag Hall. On Satur-
day, the Dungannon YOUth
Group is hosting a youth camp.
Their plans involve a spook
house, followed by a family pot-
luck. Dinner promises to be
early, so the kids can get out on
the town for trick or treating.
The Dungannon Lions will be
on hand to give out the first treat
bag of the night, so bring the
kids in costume if you can.
Within the youth camp, the
junior youth will build bonds of
friendship with other youth in
the area. They will be exploring
themes of personal and spiritual
development and how this inner
strength is applied to everyday
living for themselves, family,
friends, and community. They
are having a sleep over at the
Seniors Hall with all involved.
Actions speak louder than words
are how one becomes a contrib-
uting citizen. This is a weekend
of ACTION! Come out and sup-
port them, they have been work-
ing very hard.
Last but not least, there is
Halloween Dance (age of major-
ity) at the Ag Hall Saturday
night.

boring? Got news? Email: dun
