The Lucknow Pee Wee rep team
recently competed in the Legion
Zone C Pee Wee tournament held
in Lucknow on Nov 12-14.
The home town squad had one of
their best results in this tournament in
years. Lucknow made it all the way to
the A championship barely losing out
to Kincardine in the last minute of play.

tournament from Nov. 12 to 14. In the B championship Goderich defeated

Carter's Crokinole for Nov. 18

Another fun evening of crokinole
was held on Wednesday, Nov 18 at
the Old School House in Scone.
Five tables of eager players com-
peted for top spot.
Finishing first for the men was
Clare Kuepfer with 54 points fol-
lowed by Al Carter with 46 and third
was Winston Riley with 44. Al topped
the twenties count with 38, Clare had
33 and Peter Carter had 32.

The Lucknow Novice hosted
BCH2 on Nov 21, winning 5-3.

For the ladies Jo -Ann Carter was
first with 38 points Evelyn Hodg-
kinson had 33 followed closely for
third by Cathy Kuepfer with 32.
Cathy was high for twenties with
25, Jo -Ann had 24 and Janet Diebel
was third with 22. Door prizes were
won by Sharmane Carter, Eugenia
Zettler and Ginette Brady.
We look forward to the next
evening scheduled for Wednesday,
Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.

Purple Grove area prepping for Christmas time

The Annual Meeting for the Purple
Grove Community Centre was held
on the 16th. Chairman Rob Thomp-
son did his usual capable job of
keeping the discussions and deci-
sions on track. Our Treasurer
Heather Finnie gave her report that
was approved by the community
members present. Our newest Direc-
tor is Glen Farrell. The Community
Centre will be the place for our
Christmas concert on December
19th. Hope to see everyone there.
Ripley and District Horticultural
Society hosted their Christmas Pot-
luck meeting on Wednesday at the
Ripley Community Social Room.
There was a good crowd in attend-
ance and they all had fun auction-
ing the Christmas planters made
by Sandra MacDonald and Gail
VanderHoek and helpers. Presi-
dent Ann Finlayson chaired the
meeting and was pleased to pre-
sent Sheila MacDonald with a Life
Membership. Sheila has been a
dedicated member and treasurer of
the Horticultural Society for many
years. Sandra MacDonald was
presented with a crystal pitcher
from the Royal Bank for the most
points at the Flower Show.

Marilyn and Don Reid returned
last week from and interesting trip
to Pigeon Forge. They also had
lunch with Don's sister Wilda Parker
in Clinton on Friday and the Husk
family visited on Sunday evening.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to the families of Allene
Bradley, Donald Farrish, Tony
Eden and Ernie Gibson.
Several folks are enjoying Kin-
cardine Theatre Guild's presenta-
tion of Peter Pan the Pantomime.
Congratulations to all the young
and older actors and the directors
for a fine performance.
Congratulations to Wes and
Missy Abell on the birth of a little
boy Logan Joseph another great-
grandson for Elletta Aitken in R
Villa. Fern and Wes Abell are proud
grandparents.
Around 75 members, parents
and leaders gathered together at
the Ripley Huron Community
School for their 4-H clubs achieve-
ment night. The evening started
with the 4-H pledge, and greetings
from Hailey Allen, Kincardine agri-
cultural ambassador, and Brian
Reid, President of the Ripley Agri-
cultural Society. Awards from
Ontario 4-H were handed out. A
total of 17 new members received
their plaque for completing their
first year in the 4-H program. Cora
Hodgins was presented with a
framed print from GayLea for com-
pleting 24 clubs. There was also
recognition for 6, 12, and 18 clubs
being completed. Thanks to Hailey
for helping out with this part of the
evening, and with the drawing of
the door prizes. Hoofs & Hearts
Veterinary club, Dairy club, Horse
Club, Ripley Rocker curling club,
the Camping club, Sheep club and
Conservation club all presented
their members with gifts and
prizes. The Ripley Agricultural
Society presented each member
participating in the fair with a
monetary token. Refreshments
and fellowship completed the
evening.
Anne Maclnnes hosted a lunch
on Saturday with Carol Ann Shantz,
Maryellen Traher and Joan Eadie.
RVilla is looking forward to their
Bazaar on Friday afternoon Nov 27.
Everyone is welcome.
Purple Grove WI will be meeting
Dec. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of
Fran Farrell. Roll Call is a gift for
the Christmas Hampers and collec-
tion will be donated to Sleeping
Children.
