LOSES DRIVING
PRIVELEGES
FOR A WEEK
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-
WAWANOSH, ON) -A 62 -year-
old driver from Seaforth
will have to make a court
appearance later this summer
after she was charged with
Racing July 13. At 12:33
pm a Huron County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) officer
observed a Chevrolet Silverado
pickup truck travelling
northbound on Bluewater
Veteran's Highway at a high
rate of speed. The officer used
a RADAR device to measure
the truck's speed at 130 km/h
in a posted 80 km/h zone. A
traffic stop was initiated and
the driver came to a stop
near Brindley Beach Road.
Shirley HUGILL, 62 years of
age from Seaforth has been
charged with Race a Motor
Vehicle. Her licence has
been suspended for seven
days and her truck has been
impounded for the next week.
Her court appearance is
scheduled for September 1,
2015 at Provincial Offences
Act Court in Goderich.
RACING DRIVER
NEARLY CAUSES
HEAD-ON
COLLISION
(BLUEWATER, ON) -A 47 -year-
old driver from Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh has
been charged with Racing
following a near miss head-on
collision July 13 south of
Bayfield. Just before 2:30 pm
a Huron County OPP officer
observed the driver of a Ford
F-150 travelling northbound
on Bluewater Veteran's
Highway near Blue Bluff Road
ata high rate of speed.
The officer, travelling in the
same direction as the Ford
watched as the driver entered
into the oncoming lane to pass
a string of three vehicles. The
pickup truck accelerated to a
speed of 132 km/h in a posted
80 km/h zone to complete
the pass of the vehicles. The
dangerous pass forced a
southbound vehicle into taking
evasive action in order to
avoid a head-on collision. The
speed of the pickup truck was
measured by a RADAR device.
Richard IRELAND, 47 years of
age from Ashfield-Colborne-
Wawanosh has been
charged with Race a Motor
Vehicle. His licence has been
suspended for seven days
and his pickup truck has been
impounded for the week.
He has a court appearance
scheduled for September 1,
2015 at Provincial Offences
Act Court in Goderich.
HURON OPP
ARRESTS WANTED
MALE AT CABIN
(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON)
-A North Huron resident
remains in custody after
police tracked him down
hiding out at a cabin located
on Huron -Bruce Road. Huron
County OPP officers received
information on July 14, 2015
that a wanted male had broken
into a cabin and was taking
shelter in the cabin. Just after
3:30 am officers from Huron
OPP, South Bruce OPP and
Wingham Police Services
converged on the property
and set up containment.
Officers were able to instruct
the male over the phone to
walk out of the cabin and turn
himself over to police. After
some discussion the male
complied and surrendered to
police. He was immediately
placed under arrest for the
outstanding warrants and
subsequently searched.
Officers found the male to
be in possession of knives, a
small quantity of marihuana,
drug paraphernalia and
prescription medication
that was not prescribed to
him. In addition, he failed
to comply with conditions
of his probation orders
and recognizance.
As a result, Michael
BENNINGER, 27 years of age,
from Wingham has been
charged with 44 criminal code
charges. Charges include:
Break & Enter, Mischief
Under $5,000, Possession
of Cannabis Marihuana, 30
counts of Fail to Comply
with a Probation Order and
11 counts of Fail to Comply
with a Recognizance. He
remains in custody with an
upcoming court appearance
at the Ontario Court of
Justice - Goderich.
IMPAIRED DRIVER
LOSES CONTROL
AND HITS TREE
(KINCARDINE, ON) - On July
16, 2015 at 12:03 am, the
South Bruce Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) received a report
of a single vehicle crash
along MacKendrick Drive in
Kincardine. Officers arrived
to find that a Red Ford F150
pick-up left the roadway and
hit a tree. The driver was
found to have been drinking
alcohol. Twenty -four-year old
Taurian ROY of Huron -Kinloss
Township has been charged
with impaired driving and
operate over 80 milligrams. He
is scheduled to appear in
court on August 17, 2015
to answer to the charges.

INVESTIGATING
HEAD ON CRASH
(HURON TWP, ON) -
On July 15, 2015 at 5:32
pm, the South Bruce Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP)
received a report of a head on
crash on Lake Range Drive
in Huron Township. Officers
arrived to find that a south
bound Silver Chevrolet Impala
was in the north bound lane
when it struck a north bound
Grey Ford Explorer. The driver
of the Impala, a 24 -year-
old Huron Township man,
was airlifted to a London
hospital for treatment of
life threatening injuries.
The occupants of the Explorer,
an 18 year old North Perth
male and a 17 year old
Huron East female, are being
treated for serious, but non-
life threatening, injuries.
The OPP Technical Traffic
Collision Investigation unit
is assisting the South Bruce
OPP with this incident.

CLOSED FOR
STRUCTURE FIRE
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-
WAWANOSH, ON) -
Huron County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) closed
a section of Hawkins Road
between Prosperity Line and
St. Augustine Line. A pig barn
caught on fire. Fire crews
from Goderich, Lucknow, Blyth
and Wingham were on scene
working on the fire. The pig
barn fire caused an estimated
$100,000 in damage and
approximately 100 pigs
were lost in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is
under investigation but it is
not suspicious in nature.
MAN ON THE RUN
- NOW IN CUSTODY
(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON)
- A Morris-Turnberry resident
remains in police custody
following his arrest yesterday
afternoon outside of Wingham.
The accused had been on
the run from police after he
attended a farmhouse located
on B Line Road and made
threats toward the owner of
the property. After threatening
the owner the suspect then
fled the property on foot
traveling north to a residence
located on Howick-Turnberry
Road. He forced entry into the
home and proceeded to steal
a power drill and articles of
clothing. As the suspect was
inside the home the owner
returned home and confronted
the male. Once he was
directed to leave, he took off
running from the residence.
With the assistance of the
West Region Emergency
Response Team (ERT) and
an OPP Canine Unit officers
successfully tracked the
male to a nearby woodlot.
The suspect was taken into
custody shortly before 2 pm..
As a result, Donald WEBER,
49 years of age, from
Morris-Turnberry has been
charged with the following
Criminal Code offences:
Utter Threats to a Person;
Utter Threat to Damage
Property; Two Counts of
Theft Under $5,000; Break
and Enter; Possession
of Property Obtained by
Crime; Fail to Comply
with Probation Order.
He remains in custody
with a court appearance
scheduled for July 23,
2015 at the Ontario Court
of Justice - Goderich.
MINOR INJURIES
IN TWO VEHICLE
CRASH
(KINCARDINE, ON) - On July
16, 2015 at 6:21 pm, the
South Bruce OPP received
a report of a 2 vehicle
crash at the intersection of
Highway 21 and Durham
Street in Kincardine. Officers
arrived to find that a south
bound Red Ford F150
struck an east bound Black
Toyota 4Runner. The 3
occupants of the 4Runner
were treated at hospital for
minor injuries. The driver
of the F150, a 17 year old
Municipality of Kincardine
teen, was charged with
fail to stop for red light.

MP Lobb Announces
funding to improve
Accessibility at
the Benmiller
Community Hall
Ben Lobb, Member of
Parliament for Huron -
Bruce, announced
improved access for
Canadians with disabili-
ties to programs and ser-
vices at the Benmiller
Community Hall.
The Benmiller Commu-
nity Hall will receive
$50,000 through the Ena-
bling Accessibility Fund
(EAF) for their renovation
and upgrade project that
consists of installing a lift
and building an accessi-
ble washroom.
Gina McDonnell, Chair
of the Benmiller Commu-
nity Hall Committee
stated, "This accessibility
grant is a tremendous
help to the Benmiller
Community Hall Commit-
tee's (BCHC) fund raising
efforts towards the pres-
ervation and renovation
of this 1880 school house;
specifically allowing for
inclusive access to the
building and facilities.
Plans are to begin renova-
tions this fall with com-
pletion of the project
expected in November
2016. Cost estimates for
the entire project are
around $450,000, of
which $160,000 has
already been raised
through grants and com-
munity events at the BCH.
Local campaign efforts in
the business and private
sector are expected to
begin at summer's end."
Under this latest EAF
rollout, the majority of
projects will enhance
access for children with
disabilities (e.g. play-
grounds and recreational
facilities), Veterans with
disabilities or seniors
with disabilities.
Lobb states, "Through
the Enabling Accessibility
Fund, this project will
help people with disabili-
ties by improving access
to community facilities,
programs and services.
Thanks to the Benmiller
Community Hall Commit-
tee, we will see first-hand
how these kinds of pro-
jects make a real differ -
e n c e in our
communities."
The EAF commits $15
million per year to
improve accessibility in
facilities across Canada.
Since 2009, the Govern-
ment of Canada has
funded over 17 projects,
totalling close to $500,000
to helping residents of
Huron -Bruce get better
access to their communi-
ties' facilities, programs
and services.

bear wise program follow-
ing reports of bear sighting
in the Huron Ridge area
of Kincardine Township on
July 13, 2015. Following the
bear wise program tips will
help reduce your chances of
encountering a bear:
Store garbage in contain-
ers with tight lids
Only put garbage out the
day of collection
Clean outdoor grills after
each use, including the
grease trap
Only fill bird feeders dur-
ing winter months
Don't let leave pet food
outside
Pick ripe fruit from trees
and bushes
Bear sightings should be
reported to the MNR Bear
Hotline at 1 866 514 2327.
