There were 4 tables set for
the couples sharing their
Valentine's Luncheon with
their sweethearts at
Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow
on February 13, 2015. This
luncheon is a tradition at
Pinecrest to allow the oppor-
tunity for couples to enjoy a
meal together to celebrate
Valentine's Day.
Each table seated 2 cou-
ples, who gladly shared
some vital statistics about
their lives together.
Bas and Pat Vander Hoek
have been married for 26
years. Bas was a dairy farmer
and evangelist. Pat worked
for the Town of Goderich in
Industrial Promotion.
Fred and Sharon Ander-
son have been married for 24
years. Fred worked for both
Beachler Wood and Selinger
Wood. Sharon was a house-
wife as well as a casual
worker at various positions
over the years.
Chick and Winnie Flanna-
gan have been married for 14
years. This is a second mar-
riage for both of them after a
long wedded life to their first
spouses. Bill and June Swed -
land will have been married 57
years in August. Bill and Chick
worked together in the Lon-
don Police Department. June
was a nursing assistant in the
Ontario Hospital in St. Thomas
where all of her patients were
bedridden. Winnie worked for
the BMO Bank.
Ross and Grace Gammie
will be married 70 years on
September 23, 2015. Ross was
a crop farmer. Grace worked
in an aircraft factory, later
opening Loree Ladies Store
in Lucknow that she ran with
her daughter for 13 years.
Doug and Lillie Taylor have
been married 56 years. Doug
was a welder, beekeeper and
worked with Meals on
Wheels. Lillie was a book-
keeper at a hospital in Guelph.
John and Isobel McInnes
have been married for 28
years. This is a second mar-
riage for both. John was a
drycleaner. Isobel was a
dressmaker.
Gerald and Merle Rhody
have been married for 65
years. Gerald ran a mixed
farm. Merle was a housewife
and a waitress.
The couples enjoyed a
lasagna and at one point all
paused to join in singing
"Let Me Call You Sweet-
heart" as a group, but it was
apparent they directed it
specifically to their loved
one. Love was most certainly
in the air.
Merle Rhody attended the Valentine's Luncheon to visit with her
husband Gerald at Pinecrest Manor on February 13, 2015.
