Fred Eaglesmith
Travelling Show
Submitted
"The performance hark-
ens back to the '60s and '70s
variety shows on TV. It's
gonna be music, jokes, com-
edy. Sounds like 1966. It was
a really cool time in music."
One of the few remaining
full-time travelling
rock'n'roll productions, The
Fred Eaglesmith Show
brings its original comedy -
infused show to a series of
intimate Bruce County
venues.
After 30 years of per-
forming across the USA,
Canada and Europe - hav-
ing his songs covered by
some of the biggest names
in country music and even
appearing on "The Late
Show" with David Letter-
man - the enigmatic
Eaglesmith said he's
happy to come home to
Ontario.
The September shows are
pretty much in Fred's back
yard, easy drives from home
after a steady cross North
America tour. Eaglesmith
wants fans to know he will
make each stop a "world-
class show:'
"The older I get, the
more I go on, I'm really
happy to take my place as
an ... entertainer. I like
being that guy."
Most shows feature a
Charity Pie Auction, with
Eaglesmith's effortlessly
delivered auctioneer chant.
The band raises money for
many charities including
Operation Smile, which
helps treat facial deformi-
ties such as cleft palates in
third world countries.
Donations have topped
$47,000 so far.
Despite international
acclaim and a first-rate
show, you're more likely
to see Eaglesmith and his
band play to 150 fans in a
rural community hall ver-
sus a large theatre. Like-
wise, it's more probable to
hear about his next show
via a stenciled roadside
sign, simple B&W posters
or the FredHead grape-
vine - and to find Fred
sleeping in his old bus in a
parking lot over a 5 -star
hotel.
The Fred Eaglesmith
Show complete rock'n'roll
show of original music and
jokes. Advance tickets $25

Lucknow fall fair facts
Pumpkins,
pumpkins,
pumpkins
Pat Livingston
So, if this year's fair theme
includes the word
"pumpkins" what do you
think might be featured in
various categories
at the fair?
Right! Pumpkins!
In the fruit and vegetables
class I spotted category
seven which is for 2 pie
pumpkins; in the flower
specials class, you can use
flowers and pumpkins as a
centerpiece, or design
an arrangement in a pump-
kin or squash; in the baking
class, you can enter
pumpkin fudge (I've got to
taste that one), pumpkin
loaf with nuts, pumpkin pie
or pumpkin cookies.
Check out the fair book
and maybe you can find
more pumpkin ideas ... I'm
sure there was something in
the sewing class.
The Lucknow Fall Fair is
Sept. 18, 19 and 20, with
the theme: Country
Bumpkins, Harvest Pump-
