Lucknow Sentinel
It has been brought to the atten-
tion of the Sentinel that there were
items stolen in Lucknow overnight
on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Resi-
dents on Canning Street and Ross
Street reported they were missing
various garden tools including rakes
and shovels as well as several lawn
ornaments on Sunday morning.
As the value of the items taken
from each residence is low, the
thefts were not reported to OPP.
However, the victims want to warn
the community to lock all vehicles,
garages and sheds to protect their
property. Watch for people who
should not normally be there. Be
particularly careful to not leave
items outside at night.

Market Opening
Valerie Gillies
Lucknow Sentinel
The new Sepoy Vendors Market
is set to be opened in Lucknow on
May 1, 2015. The market will be
located in the former 3 -Creeks Res-
taurant building at the intersection
of Bruce Road #1 and Highway #86.
The volunteer project manager is
Danielle Sutton who will be doing
promotions and generally manag-
ing the cooperative market which is
to be run by the vendors who will
volunteer their time to operate, as
part of their contract.
The basic idea for this market is
to encourage home-based crafter
businesses. There are already seven
or eight vendors interested. The
offerings so far will be crafts,
antiques, Pet So Well dog jewelry
and other pet products, candles,
quilting, crochet and furniture. Tea
and coffee donations will help to
buy supplies for the market such as
bags and ongoing expenses.
Weather permitting, outdoor ven-
dors will set up, as well.
Lisa Pennington owns the
building and has provided space to
Sutton to set up the market. Sutton
explains that "we can't say that it is
a not-for-profit market as the ven-
dors will pay rent for the space." An
added benefit to the location is that
the Pennington family will be
opening "What's the Scoop, Ice
Cream Parlour" in the same build-
ing. The parlour will be included on
the Ice Cream Trail, bringing in
traffic for the market, as well. Sut-
ton views the market as a great way
to utilize unused space while offer-
ing something else in town to sup-
port buying local.
McPyatt Signs is making the ban-
ner as signage for the Sepoy Ven-
dors Market. Donations are wel-
come to help cover the banner
cost. Sutton is still looking for more
vendors, student help and other
volunteers. The Sepoy Vendors
Market is expected to be open
three days per week on Thursday,
Friday and Saturday from 10 am to
4 pm as of May 1. To become
involved or for more information,
contact Sutton at I Want That Bag
in Lucknow at 519-812-4982.
