Hensall holds tree lighting ceremony Friday
The fifth annual Tres Lighting
Ceremony took place Friday,
December 7, 1990 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Hensall village hall.
A warm welcome on a sold night
was given by Reeve Jim Robinson.

A CHRISTMAS THOUGHT
From the words of a song: C is
for the Christ Child born upon that
day, H for Herald angels in the
night, R means our Redeemer, 1
means Isreal, S is for the Star that
shone so bright, T is for Three
Wise Men they who travelled far,
M is for the Manger where He lay,
A is for All He stands for, S means
Shepherds came, and that's why
there's a Christmas Day.
As I look around me those letters
stand for what Christmas has
become over the years.
C is for our children getting
everything they want, H for houses
shining bright with lights, R means
rush and get ready, I means I don't
have time, S for the same old songs
we always sung, T is for the three
days we get off of work, M is for
the many paries everywhere, A is
for all the presents, S means Santa
came, and that's why there's a
Christmas day.
As this special day approaches I
hope that we will each take time to
remember the true reason for our
celebrating.
YOUTH FOR CHRIST RALLY
Saturday, December 1 the regular

Jesus.
Young people from local churches
provided excellent talent for the

captured everyone's attention with
an interesting message talking about
how we should be a gift to God au
we think about gifts during this
Christmas season.

ellowshipped.

THIS WEEK
YOU ASKED
THE GST
CONSUMER
INFORMATION
OFFICE.
Q: I'm thinking of buying a new car in 1991.
How will the proposed GST affect prices?
A: The outgoing Federal Sales Tax (FST) is
now part of the price of new cars. So, while
they will be fully taxed at 7% in 1991,
the expected effect of replacing the FST
with the GST on the average $22,000
mid-size car is a reduction of around $850.
Q: My son has figured out it will cost $500 in
lumber to build a dock at our cottage if he
bought it now. How much will that lumber
cost with the proposed GST?
A: You can expect to pay about $512 for
that same amount of lumber for personal
use based solely on the changeover from
the FST to the GST.
Q: 1 knotv the proposed GST won't apply to city
bus fares but 1 take the commuter train to work.
Will 1 have to pay GST?
A: No. Daily commuter trains are considered
a municipal transit service, so fares are
exempt from GST.
We're here to answer your questions about. how the
GST will affect prices. Call us toll-free Monday
to Friday 9am-9pm. Ask for your free copy of the
"Consumer's Guide to the GST and Prices'.'
The answer Is to calf
