Let's keep this day w mind for newt yea, end see if we can beat these emounts. The Seaforth Recreation and Parks Committee are now accepting nominations for the ANNUAL CITIZENSHIP AWARDS. These awards are presented annually to three volunteers in Seaforth in the following categories: SERVICE TO SPORTS - A person who volunteers his or ha time to sports organizations, or sports in general in Seaforth. CIVIC SERVICE - A person that belongs to a service club or community organization in which he or she contributes many hours of time for the betterment of the community. HUMANITARIAN SERVICE - A person who is con- siderate of mankind, and is willing to give his or her time to help other people. Nominations for these awards will be accepted at the Seaforth Recreation office until Friday, Oc- tober 19, 1990. These awards are chosen based on the individual's contribution to the community in a volunteer capacity. For information, please call the Recreation office at 527-0882. Seaforth and District Minor Hock- ey Association will be hosting a TRAINERS CLINIC on Monday, October 15 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Seaforth and District Com- munity Centres. We must have 25 names before the instructors will travel here for the workshop. DRUSILLA LEITCH, an aerobics instructor for Fitness is Fun, just returned from the sixth annual Educational Conference sponsored by IDEA: the As- sociation for Fitness Professionals. The conference presented the latest fitness trends and programs as well as updates on exercise safety. Over 2,000 instructors and business owners took pan in the sold -out event from September 7 to the 9 at the Buena Vista Palace at Walt Disney World Village in Orlando, Florida. Drusilla took part in clinics, lectures, workshops and workouts touching on Senior Fit- ness - The Golden Years; Aquatic Exercise - concepts and develop- ment; Nutrition in the 90's, The Safe and Sensible use of light weights in an exercise program, and much more. One of the highlights for Drusilla was an active demonstration by a group os 28 men and women who called them- selves "Recycled Teenagers". They ranged in age from 48 to 94, and their energy and enthusiasm made one realize how important fitness is to an everyday, independent life. IDEA promotes safe and effective exercise through networking and the education, of its members. Dursilla is certified by the IDEA Foundation, and her classes begin on Tuesday and Thursday mornings September 25 and 27 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. This u low impact exer- cise. Babysitting will be available. Fitness will also be held oa Wed- nesday evenings from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Arena beginning on September 26. ltcgisuation for all classes can take place on the first day. The Seaforth Agricultural Society will be having a GIANT YARD SALE in the new show barn an Saturday, October 13 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Any interested vendors w to reserve specie can do so by c g Lois Hodgert at 527- 0046. The Bears lost to Clinton 1-0 in frosty Monday night action, and travel to Clinton tonight to battle it out in a best -of -three for the League Chamionship.
