Septernbtr meeting of the
Anglican Church Women was
preceded by a Pot Luck supper at
the Parish Hall, with twelve mem-
bers in attendance. Devotions were
given by Sandra Lee and Audrey
McLean, and a prayer for the Parish
and the Lard's Prayer was given by
Dorothy Hayes, Co -Chairperson.
Roll call was taken and Rev. Greg
Gilson was present to inform the
members of a special meeting to be
held on Thursday, September 13 at
the Parish Hall, starting at 6:30.
Please note that there will be no
Potluck supper before this meeting,
and our regular Board meeting will
follow after. All members of our
congregation are encouraged to
attend this meeting, at which time
fund raising, operational expenses
and a Men,orial Building Fund are
to be discussed. This meeting is
OPEN TO ALL PARISHIONERS.
Please make a point of attending.
Maryanne Snowdon has
completed die fall cleaning of our
kitchen, and thanks were extended
to her from the women of the
A.C.W. Minutes of our June
meeting were read and old business
was completed.

Joan Spinal, Superintendent of the
Sunday Schools has given the date
of September 9 for the beguuung of
Sunday School and Nursery School.
The Sunday School will be con-
ducted from the same curnculum as
the past three years. Vanessa Smith
will be convening the Nursery
School, and Helen Southgate will
be assisting with the Sunday
School.
A special 'Craft Nie' is to be
held at 7:30 p.m. the Parish Hall on
Wednesday, September 19. Anne
James will be conducting a class on
"smocking" Christmas Decorations.
All materials will be provided, and
the articles made will go to the
Christmas Bazaar. Please try to
attend, as this should be a fun
night.
Plans are in the works for a
Parish Breakfast, more news will
come later on this function.
During the summer months we
lost one of our most valuable and
older members, Carrie McGavin,
who was a tireless worker in the
Parish. To Audrey and Marion and
other family members we extend
our sympathy. Grandma McGavin
touched many lives in our
congregation with her notes, letters
and phone calls. She will be
missed.

Seniors meet
for Pot Luck
The Seaforth Happy Senior
Citizens had a Pot Luck dinner held
at the Legion Thursday, September
6 to start off their fall activities. A
vote was carried that "The Happy
Citizens" place a wreath at the
Cenotaph for Remembrance Day.
There was a short business meeting
after which there were 11 tables of
euchre at play.

Church held a joint general meeting
in the church basement on Wednes-
day evening. September 5.
Devotions were led by Olene Den-
nis opening with the theme, "Begi-
nnings for Possibilities". Gloria

Convenor for Church in Society,
Marie Coutts introduced the quest
speaker, Clare Geddes, Chaplain of
the Bluewater Centre. He spoke of
the correctional centre for boys
aged 12 - 17. They have a capacity
for 110 boys at one time and are
only maximum security institution
in the province. Tours can be ar-
ranged for small groups. Mr. Ged-
des also showed number of interes-
ting slides of the work done at the
centre. He was thanked for his
presentation by Maxine Marks.
A community shower for Ruthie
Thamer is set for Friday evening,
September 14. Everyone is wel-
come.
Plans were made for Duff's
church 125th Anniversary set for
September 23 at 11 a.m. Anybody
with pictures of the congregation or
happenings in recent years are to
get in touch with Marilyn
McDonald, as she is planning on
having several pictures on display.
September 25 is the Huron -Perth
Presbyterial Rally at Walton church.
The Fall Regional Rally is Septem-
ber 26 at Brucefield United Church
with Lavonne Ballah as the guest
speaker. The turkey supper is set
for Wednesday, November 7. The
meeting was closed with prayer
followed by a social half hour when
refreshments were served by the
lunch committee.
LOCAL HAPPENINGS
Congratulations to the Walton
Brewers Men's Ball Team for win-
ning the "B" Championships
division at the Annual Goderich
Tournament on the Labour Dav
week -end. Congratulations especial-
ly to John Huether, the recipient of
the Most Outstanding Player award
in the division.
In the Walton Brewers first game
in the North Divisional Finals
against Seaforth Bears, they lost 7 -
5. This is the first game that the
Walton Brewers have lost so far in
scheduled games this season.
The Annual Huron Pioneer
Thresher's Reunion, held a Blyth
this past weekend, was again a
great success. The sun shone out
every afternoon helping to take the
chill from the air. Many people
attended from the surrounding area.
On Saturday, McGavin's Farm
Supply Ltd. of Walton hosted a
Moon-Glo corn stove demonstration
with the C.K.N.X. mobile radio
broadcasting on site with Don
Fraser. Door prizes were donated
by McGavin Farm Supply Ltd.
Coaches, Murray and Sharon
Blake hosted a sleepover party for
the Walton Pee Wee girls' team at
their home last Saturday evening.
Walton's congregation from
Duff's United Church joined
Bluevale Church for their Anniver-
sary service on Sunday morning.
Rev. Stan McDonald was guest
speaker.
The Brussels Fall Fair is next
Wednesday and many of the
schools will participate int he
parade. Several 4-H achievement
days will be held that day.

are 11 years of age by January 1,

her daughter Jane. The workshops
will be held Monday evening or
Tuesday of this week at Huronview,
Clinton. Mrs. Schade plans to start
her first meeting on Monday Sep-
tember 17 at 7 o'clock. Give her a
call soon.
The Walton Women's Institiute
meeting is this Wednesday evening
at 8:15 p.m. Note the change of
date.
A family gathering was held at
the home of Jim and Evelyn Blake
and girls on Sunday afternoon,
when about 30 Blake family mem-
bers attended to celebrate several
birthdays and an anniversary. The
afternoon turned out perfectly and
several enjoyed a swim in the pool,
followed by a potluck supper.
Sorry to hear that Elva Bolger is
a patient in a London hospital,
Mildred Blake in Goderich and
Wilfred Shortreed in Clinton. Hope
they are soon on the mend and
home again.

week when a local boasted of an
11 -foot sunflower in her garden.
