St. Columban carry 3-1
win into last ame
The St. Columban men's soccer
team travelled to Exeter last sunday
August 19 to play the Exeter Cen-
tennials and came home with a 3 to
1 victory.
Exeter opened the scoring early in
the game when an Exeter forward
caught the St. Columban defenders
flat-footed and headed the ball into
the net. St. Columban rebounded
quickly and evened the score when
Rem Murray buried a shot into the
top corner off a free kick. St.
Columban continued to dominate
the play for the remainder of the
first half, and were rewarded with
another goal when Steve Ryan
drove a shot through the Exeter
defense.

play in the second half, St. Colum -
ban forward Gilbert Tam broke
through past the Exeter defense and
finished the play off with a nice
shot to the corner.
St. Columban had several other
scoring chances but could not add
to their lead, and Exeter could not
mount any kind of attack. The
game ended in a 3 to 1 score for St.
Columban.
St. Columban played extremely
well even though this was the first
game that they have played in three
weeks.
