grandparents, Wilfred and Laura

Sten and Beverley Bentley at-
tended the Nicholl - Taylor wed-
ding on August 4 in Markdale.
Miss Sharon Engel, Tracy Alada
and daughter Amanda, of London,
visited on Sunday with Mr. Mac
Engel.
THIS WEEK
David and Linda Williams, Angie
and Troy enjoyed a five-day motor
trip to Virginia, Pennsylvania and
Washington.
Approximately 60 friends and
neighbours of Don and Ferne Dick-
inson gathered at their home on the
long weekend for a trailer party and
reunion.
Several members of the
Cranbrook W.I. and community
aucnded "Firefly" at the Blyth
theatre. TDe show was very good
and was enjoyed by everyone.
Ruth Jean - Louis of W aaisaaugs
visited John and Nancy Vanass and
family.
Eldon and Isabel Wick and son
John, of Marathon, arc holidaying
with family members in the area.
Charlene, Nicole and Chris Engel
of Elmira are spending holidays
with their grandparents, Ross and
Tillie Engel.
Jim and Linda Minielly and on
Richard recently spent some
holidays in Michigan, U.S.A. While
there, they visited Frankenmouth
and toured the many shops
including Brannen' Christmus
Wonderland. They also enjoyed the
paddle -wheel boat ride on the Cass
River aboard the "Riverview
Queen". They took in the Detroit
Zoo near Troy, and then travelled
to Dearborn, where they spent two
days visiting Greenfield Village and
the Henry Ford Museum.

and Sharon Rapson and Joan and
Wayne Smith attended the Tedy -
Smith wedding in Knox Pres-
byterian church, Walkerton on
August 11. The bride is a daughter
of former residents, Carmen and
Doreen Smith.

Denise Lewis, on Ann St., on the
birth of a son.
Mrs. Millie Evans spent the
holiday weekend in London with
Jack and Marie Cleary. Earlier in
the week, Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Lemaire of Toronto were visiting
Mrs. Evans.
Joe and Olga Echert spent a few
days at their trailer in Sauble
Beach.
On the holiday week -end the
MacRae's were in Belle River at
the Fiddlers Jamboree and it was a
pleasure to see and hear two of our
local fiddlers competing. Fred Har -
bum, now of Seaforth came in 2nd
place in his class (65 - 80 yrs) and
Bill Iwing of Mitchell came 1st in
his class (49 - 65 yrs).
THIS WEEK
This past weekend was the 40th
Area moto
riders fare
well in
Nationals
The area was well represented
this past weekend at the National
Amateur Motocross Championships,
held August 11 and 12 at the Wil-
liamsford, Ontario Moto Park.
In the 80A schoolboy class, Brett
Lee of Walton placed fifth in a
field of riders from seven provin-
ces. Brett competed on his R and M
Motorsport Kawasaki in this class,
one of the most hotly contested of
the day, that was won by a
Michigan rider.
Chris Lee, also of Walton, placed
fifth in the 30 -plus class on a Lynn
Hoy Enterprises Honda.
Third place in the Open Novice
class went to Terry Rothmaier of
Paisley, riding a Honda. Doug
Farrish of Lucknow placed 12th in
the 250 Intermediate. Steve Boyd,
Kurtzville, also competed.
In the non -championship support
c1as9es, Tom Wheatley of Winthrop
took fifth in the 809 schoolboy
class, while Mike Campbell of
Walton came in right behind him in
the same class for sixth place.

qualifier race in the 125 novice 9,
but wasla ued by mechanical
problems in the finals. Tom Mor-
rison of Holyrood raced to second
place in the class.

surrounding district attending the
event. Once again, Bill Iwing won
out in his class, taking first place,
receiving money and trophy. The
McQuaid sisters, Carol Anne and
Madona of Seaforth, came in third
in their classes, each receiving
money and a trophy. In both of
their classes they were each in the
top three out of quite a number in
each class. Congratulations to
everyone. Eileen MacRae was also
the winner in a draw for a beautiful
hand -made violin, sponsored by the
Rotary Club of Shelburne.
Sympathy from the community to
Hazel and Alvin Buerman and
family of R.R. #1 Dublin on the
passing of Hazels' mother, Mrs.
Freida Siemon of Ritz Villa and
also to all members of her family in
the surrounding district of Mitchell.
Mrs. Mary Evans from Windsor
visited Mrs. Millie Evans, and on
Sunday they visited with Jack and
Rosemary Evans, and Patti and
Margaret Evans in Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Geldoph ..ac-
companied Joe and Olga Echert on
Saturday to the wedding of their
nephew Shawn Echert and Heather
Gingerich in London. Marie and
Jerry Echert, parents of the groom
spent Sunday in Dublin with Joe
and Olga.
A surprise bridal shower was held
fro Barbara Echert in Kitchener on
Friday, hosted by the groom's
family.
McCLURE - Larry and Lynn are
pleased to announce the arrival of
their first child Kacie Elizabeth.
Kacie arrived at Seaforth Hospital
on Sunday, August 12. Proud
grandparents are Bob and Josie
Nigh, Egmondville, and Walter and
