WE THREE KINGS — Students and parents at St. Patrick's School

commercial ideas at the school's annual Christmas play on

St. Columban school entertains friends

Parents, grandparents, children and
friends enjoyed seasonal entertainment on
Wednesday, December 17 when the children
of St. Columban School, under the direction
pf their teachers, presented their annual
Christmas concert in the church hall.
George Van Slyck, principal, welcomed the
large crowd and the program got underway
with Terry Kelly master of ceremonies.
The program opened with the school choir
with all the children participating singing
several Christmas carols, accompanied by
Patsy Crowley on the piano.
A recitation "Frustration" was given by
Melissa Robertson and "The Story" by the
Grade 2 boys.
, A "Folk Dance" was done by the Grade 2
girls and a recitation "Santa Claus" by Grade
1 with each child representing a letter in Santa
Claus.
A play "An Unpractical Joke" was
presented by Grade 8.
Two plays, "The Return" and "Mr. Earth
Sees the Doctor" were presented by Grades 5
and 6.
"Celebrate 'Christmas" was presented by
Grade 3 and 4 with singing and dancing and
the Grade 1 and 2 Rhythm Band played
seasonal music on their instruntents.
A recitation "My Teddy Bear" was given
by Matthew Cronin and "Vive le Vent" was
sung by Grade 4.
Grade 5 and 6 entertained with some folk
dancing and a recitation "Because" was
given by Christa Murray and "Kind W ishes"
was given by Kathleen Movlan.
The final play "Let Earth Receive Her
King" was performed by Grade 7 and 8.
Father Sipek congratulated the children,
their teachers and parents.
Following the concert the St. Columban
P.T.A. president Ken Coyne called on Father
Sipek to help with the P.T.A. draw, First
prize, a weekend for two at Toronto's Royal
York was won by Heather Cronin and second
prize of a dinner voucher for two at Kreb's or
at Robindale's was won by John Flannery of
RR 4. Seaforth.
The ringing of bells brought cheers and
laughter from the children as Santa arrived
'with a treat for all the good little girls and
boys.

members of Jack and Margaret O'Reilly had

Louise Ryan of Kitchener spent a couple
days last week with her parents Clarence and
Cecilia Ryan and Mary Jo Ryan of Port Elgin
visited on Sunday with her parents.

It didn't seem fair to unwrap gifts in front of reindeer can go anywhere. Meanwhile
people so far from home with no gifts of their brother Cam and friend Lou were blowing

For the little children it was terrible to be
away from home at Christmas. Would Santa

people. It wasn't much but they were assured
that Santa had managed to get other gifts to
, their own home in spite of the storm, After all

dig themselves out and get back to normal.
Some families had to have their Christmas
gatherings later on in the year. The little
house nn Goderich Street was soon back to
normal .well as normal as possible for a
house on "the list."
