Top students honored at
For some it was just the first of a possible one award, the K.J. Etue Math -Calculus

councillor Bob Dinsmore and a number of
proud mothers, fathers, grandparents, bro-
thers and sisters, looked on, the Grade 12 and
13 graduates walked on stage to receive their
diplomas.
Bruce Scott made an encore performance
ab valedictorian, giving the address for the
Grade 13 class. Jeff McGavin . gave the
valedictory address on behalf of the Grade
12s.
Paul Dodds topped the list for individual
achievements taking home a number of
awards. Paul not only finished his Grade 13
year as an All Ontario Scholar (having
attained an average of at least 30 percent) but
he finished with the highest average as well,
winning the Lyons Food Market Scholarship.
Other awards he received included the Lois
Scott Memorial Biology award, the Ball -
Macauley Chemistry award, the Box Furni-

ing on to -higher education in an area of
agriculture, the Blyth Agricultural Society

and part of the Janet and Margreta Snell
Scholarship, presented to the students
maintaining high marks in Grade 13 English
and French, and the Elizabeth Scott bursary
presented to Grade 13 students who have
gone on to university.
Janet Hoggarth was another Ontario
scholar and took .a share of the K.J. Etue
Math -Calculus award, the Seaforth sur-
ance Math -Algebra award and the Elizabeth
Scott Bursary. She also won the James R.
Scott Communications award, presented to a
student who has demonstrated achievement
in communications.
David Hook, also an Ontario Scholar
received a share' of the Elizabeth Scott
bursary arid Janet and Margrete Snell
Scholarship as well. He also won the Huron
Expositor English award and the Town of
Seaforth Geography award,
Kathy Turnbull, another Ontario Scholar
received the Janet and Margrete Snell
scholarship, the Elizabeth Scott Bursary and
the Touche Ross and Co. Accounting award.

He took a share of the Elizabeth Scott
bursary.
Other award winners were; Todd James
who received the Students' Council Citizen-
ship award presented to a student who has
contributed much to the school, and the
Alumni. memorial award, presented to a
graduating student who has done well
academically and has also been active in
school activities; Anne Ryan who received the
Sills Hardware History award, the Huron
Expositor English award, the Huron Exposi-
tor English literature award, the Anstett's
Family Studies award, an Elizabeth Scott
Bursary, and a Janet and Margrete Snell
Scholarship; Colleen Ungarian who received
the Sills Hardware History Award, the Ladies
Auxiliary, Branch 156, Royal Canadian
Legion award, presented to the daughter of a
Legion member going on in higher education,
and the Women's Auxiliary of Seaforth
Community Hospital award, presented to a
student who is proceeding on in a hospital -
related career; Marg Nolan, Who won the
Town of Seaforth geography award; Mark
Ryan who Won the Canadian Tire Physical
Education award and an Elizabeth Scott
bursary; Piet Hoste who won the Lyons Food
Market Physics award; Linda Ellis who won
the Karen Byers Family Studies Award;
Manny Gomes who won the McConnell,
Stewart and Devereaux law award; Denise
Morey who won the F,A. Dobson Physical
Education award and half of the 'Seaforth
Lioness Club Award, presented to a student
going on in post -secondary education who
has displayed effort and initiative; Darryl
Finnigan who won the Royal Caned'
Legion, Branch 156 award presented to the
son of a Legion member going on in higheri
education, an Elizabeth Scott Bursary, and
Janet and Margreta Snell Scholarship.

Bursary presented to a student deserving o
the chance to go on in higher education, Chris
Nelemans won the Edith Nott Memorial
Award, presented to a student going on in
childcare education, Julie Horan won the
Patrick Kenny Family award presented to the
most improved student and Missy Caldwell
won the Calvin Pressey Memorial award/
