He demonstrated flower arrangements and gave many tips as he went along. He was introduced by Elva Bolger and thanked by Ruth Axtmann and presented with a small remembrance on behalf of the Institute. Steve donated a couple of his arrangements and several roses that were drawn for following the meeting. Helen Craig presided for the business following the Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada. Helen read a poem. Margaret Shortreed read the minutes, the financial report and several thank you cards. in the correspondence letters were read from Huron County Museum, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ontario Aprieniture Museum, Milton. The Institute display that was at Brussels Fair that day as brought back and set up for viewing by . embers that night. Viola Kir y gave a report of the District Executive meeting held in Ethel recently. CELEBRATE50TH ANNIVERSARY Congratulations to Hugh and Malinda Johnston who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with open house at Duff's United Church, Walton on Saturday afternoon, They were married September 23, 1936. The church basement was decorated in the fall colors. A large -number of friends and relatives signed the guest book in charge of Tracey Fischer and Gail Neil. Handing out the wedding cake were Nancy Johnston and Kim Neil. The neighbors served a lovely lunch during the afternoon. Present were the couple's attendants of 50 years ago, Clarence and Marg Kastner of Walkerton, along with their family; Larry of Auburn, Irene of near Arthur; Allan of Kitchener and Shirley of Bornholm. The family went out to the Red Maple, Monkton for a dinner at noon. Ball games for childreh held at Jeschke Park PEOPLE • Cranbrook Correspondent MRS. MAC ENGEL 887-6645 The children of the area have enjoyed a good time playing ball at the Jeschke park. Sixty-eight registered for the games Monday and Wednesday evening. On Sunday afternoon September 14. approximately 100 children' and parents attended the wiener roast. The afternoon started with T -ball, then juniors, and ended with the seniors playing the adults, All enjoyed the picnic lunch of wieners, cake, coffee and cold drinks. A special treat was popcorn balls for everyone made by Beryl Smith. In• charge of the games all summer were Lois Hart and Beryl . Twister struck at three farms on road Updated reports indicate the tornado, which touched down on Grey Township Concession 1516 last week did more damage than originallytbelieved. in addition to damaging the house and blowing off a barn door at the home of Murray Blake, RR 2,. Brussels, the tornado also caused damage at two other homes along the road, said Mrs. Murray Blake. The twister apparently touched down first at the home of Brian W orkman, where it knocked down some trees. It then crossed the road and knocked down three trees at the home of Jake' Hulzebos. Two of the trees caused damage to a two -car garage on the property, while another tore down hydro lines.
