Swingers capture
Sportffeet title
The 'Seaforth Swingers made a successful
trip to Port Elgin, recently_ when they
participated -in the 10th Annua11ike luron
Zone Sportsfest. The Swingers brought home
medallions and the "A" trophy from the
Ladies Slopitch competition.
The Swingers played their first game early
Saturday morning against the Vanastra Good
Times, and despite the hour, were able to put
forth a strong defensive effort. Dawn Papple,
for one, at short stop wasn't letting anything
get past her, and her throws were right on the
mark to Marlene Holman at first, The
Swingers came up with a 15-11 victory, which
advanced them to the "A" side of the
competition.
The second game of the weekend, which
pitted the Swingers against Hanover, proved
to be a much easier game than the first. All
team members gave their best performance
at the bats and in the field, and Delores
O'Dwyer was steady with her pitching. The
final sore was. 26-4.

Sunday morning the Swingers found
themselves in the semi-final game against
the Exeter Sundowners. At first it looked tike
it would be the final game for •the Swingers as
they were losing 7-0 at the end of the fifth
inning with time running out.
But the Swingers came through at the top
of the sixth inning with eight runs then
managed to hold Exeter at seven in the
bottom of the inning to clinch the win by one
run.
The final game Sunday afternoon saw the
Swingers take on Kincardine. It was a very
close game with both teams playing extreme-
ly well. Delores O'Dwyer pitched another
strong game for the Swingers and Terri Dale
hit a three -run homer to help bring the team
