Geo. Gray has sold his fares on the
2nd concession McKillop, one of the

Cowan for $7,000. Mr. Gray is going

Word was received last week of the
death of an old Clintonian, in the person
of Mr. Archibald Matheson, near
Qn'Appelle, N. W. T., which occurred
on February 26, at the age of 76 years.
Deceased was for a number of years
a resident of Clinton, carrying on here
a blacksmithing business. He was a
"brawny Scot" who stood for and ad-
vocated all principles that related to
the moral welfare of the community,

Bishop Authony Kozlowski, head of
the Independent Catholic Church of
America has just returned from Cali-

A peculiar point of law was disposed
of by Master J. Cartwright at Toronto
last week, George Death had his fingers
crushed in the shop of Worth & Martin,
machinists, of Toronto. The father re-
f need to bring an action for damages
whereupon a married sister of the boy,
Mrs. M. Petry, entered an action her-
self. The defendants raised the point
that a married women connot act. The
Master held this to be the case, and the
action will be dropped unless revived in
a few months by an unmarried sister,
who will then be of age.
The following story bas reached the
editor's room, but it is not possible
to vouch for its accuracy: "Mr.
Serapem," said the hostess to an am-
ateur violinist at an evening gathering,
"you play the violin, do you not:"
"Yes, after a fashion, you know," was
the modest reply. "How nice!" mur-
mured half the company. "Did you
bring your violin with you?" "No I
did not." "How nice!" murmured the
other half,

James Henderson is dead. This news
will bring grief to many a household in
Bruce and Huron counties where his
name was so well-known for over a
quarter of a century. He went out to
Wisconsin from Kincardine with his
family last year and had some thought
of returning to see leis old friends when
death overtook hire. "Jitu" as he was
familiarly called, was a elan of consider-
able ability and had a companiouable
nature that made him many friends.
He was very fond of children and there
were many little tots in Kincardine.

Kincardine.
