Couples golf way to get together
As sports go, there are really few games
both husbands and wives can enjoy together.
Golf, however, is certainly one exception.
More and more couples are playing golf
together on a regular basis, even though the
wives still enjoy a game with the girls and
their husbands still have their favorite male
foursomes too.
Golf is a great game for couples to play. It
takes time to playa round of golf and if you're
playing with your partner in life, what a
perfect place to spend some time together.
Unlike sports such as tennis where you're at
opposite ends of a court and too out of breath
- tospeak, during a round of golf couples have
a great chance to walk and talk together.-

your own ball. The alternate shot events are a
speedy way to play with the husband and wife
taking turns hitting the same ball. Often this
game is a test of the relationship since a
good shot by one partner can be spoiled by a
bad shot by the other. Sour looks and
apologies are often the result. By far the most
popular way to play is to have each partner
play their own ball, and add the two totals
together. For net prizes you subtract the
partnets total handicaps. The handicapping
system allows everyone the opportunity to
compete and a chance to win a prize.
Our Annual Couples Tournament is this
Saturday with 36 couples teeing it up for 18
holes of golf followed by a mast beef dinner
and prize presentation. The defending
champions, Dave and Dorenda McLeod from
Oakwood will be here along with defending
net champions liiheta and John Stratton from
Stratford. The tee will be closed from 11 a.ni-
