Students visit residents

On Tuesday, May 13 a number of students
from St. Columban school entertained the
residents at the Manor and KUbarchan
Nursing Homes in .Seaforth.
The event was organized by Luella Murphy
and other ladies of the St. Columban C.W.L.
who helped with transportation. At the
homes were Mary Moylan, Marie Bicknell
and Carol Ryan.
The children who participated in the
entertainment were Sharon . Kelly, Tanya
Eckert, Kathleen Ryan, Sandra Claessens,
Pat Maloney, Jim Crowley, Tanya and Karen
Van Steelandt, Usa Barry, Michelle Cronin,
Melanie Cronin, Mike Coyne, Kim Maloney,
Mike Cronin, Dean Murray and Stephen
Hicknell. , .

The May meeting of the Catholic W omen's
olic
Church was ue held in the parish hall of St. on Monday
evening, May 5.
The president, Angeline Swart opened the
meeting.

The C.W.L. will send a donation to St.
Peter's Seminary, Londosi, to re -decorate one
room at the Seminary. A donation will also be
sent to the Esk-Omi Missions in St. Norbert,
Manitoba, one of the world's poorest and
most remote mission territories scattered
throughout some 00.0,000 square miles of
barren Arctic land.
The date for the annual June Social has
beep changed from June 16 and wUl now be
held on June 11 in St. Columban Church
parish hall. The prizes on the ticket draw will
be first prize - a qullt, second prize, an afghan
and third prize - a ceramic bowl and pitcher
set. Tickets may be purchased from the ladies
of St. Columban C.WPEO.L.
Pat Subject Carrie Ryan, Jeffrey and
Nathan of Kitchener spent the weekend with
Clarence and Cecilia Ryan.
Mother, daughter banquet held
The E.L.W. of St. Peter's Church,
Brodhagen had a successful Mother and
Daughter Banquet in place of the regular
May meeting.
Doreen Bennewies welcomed all and
opened with a prayer and a Mother's Day
poem.
A meal was served under the convenorship
of Velma Riveter, Frieda Mogk and assist-
ants. Readings were given by Enid Leonhardt
and Florence Rock.
A short program followed including a few
contests and the "T. V. Jackpot Game" which
proved to be quite entertaining .
This was arranged by Lois Bennewies,
Eleanor Horst and Enid Leonhardt.
Then Elsie Beuerman took over the
entertainment and showed slides of their trip
and their son's six month stay in Australia
during 1985. Elsie was thanked and given a- There, the highlight of the evening was a

A plant exchange ended the evening. On May 19 (today) the E.I. W . will sponsor
