The Huron Expositor, 1986-04-23, Page 15ENTERTAINMENT THE HURON EXPOSITOR, APRIL 23, 1986 — A15 II III III MI NI IV Crib players winners BY GORDON SCOTT, PRO The Branch bowling league finished its bowling last Friday with the team of Jackie Melanson (captain), Jack Eisler, John Cairns, Al Smale, Jeannine Jefferson and Linda Gridzak winning the playoffs. The League champions for the season play were Ann Wood (captain), Annie Malcolm, Thel- ma Coombs, Bob Doig, Torn Phillips and Gordon Scott. The championship was won on the final night of league play. On ,Saturday evening' trophies were presented to the winners at a banquet catered by the Ladies Auxiliary. Other winners were Ann Wood (high average), Barbara Watson (high single); Helen Nicholson (high triple); Larry Broome (high average); Don Eaton (high triple); and Al Smale (high single). For the spares Connie Marion was high for the ladies and Brian Dale was high for the men. The team that won the most sympathy for their inept play or maybe it was just hard luck consisted of Helen Nicholson (captain), Marlene Glanville, Doreen Eisler, Don Wood, Bill Eisler and Ken Coombs. Al Smale was re-elected president, Don Eaton secre- tary and Marg Ungarian, treasurer. At the April general meeting a good crowd turned out for the election of officers. The new slate of officers for the coming term is; Past President, Jack Muir; President, Jim W atson; First Vice President, Mel Melanson; Second Vice President, Earl Laycox; Secret- tary, Thelma Coombs; Treasurer, Don Eaton and Executive members, Al N holsin, Henry Ziler, Garry gan, awl Randy navman ('.nmmittPP chairman s 0 0 LEGION NEWS ,o9,g SEAFORTH HOME & will be appointed by the new executive at a later meeting. The tickets for the Diamond Jubilee Dinner and Dance are going well. Anybody wishing to attend would be advised to purchase their tickets as soon as possible. There are only tickets for 80 couples printed and are being sold on a first come basis to members only. For information regarding tickets phone or contact Gord Scott; Jack Eisler, Jack Muir or George Miller. There will be a potluck supper on Friday at 6:30 p.m. for the members of the dart league. This Was originally scheduled for May but has been brought forward. It is hoped this is satisfactory to all. The Branch sent a team of cribbage players to play in the provincial finals at Erin last Saturday. The team consisted of President, Jack Muir, Ken Barry, Ed. Baker, Gord McKenzie and spare Bill W ilbee. This team won the provincial trophy. This is the first time a cribbage team from Seaforth has won the provincial finals. As a result Seaforth will ' host next year's provincial cribbage tourna- ment.
