The Walton Women's Institute held their
annual meeting Wednesday. The Walton 2
unit of Duff's United Church catered to a
delicious turkey meal prior to the meeting.
Four 4-H leaders were present and were
thanked by Ruth Axtmann for leading the
dubs and presented with a small token to
cover expenses. Pat Nolan and Marion Hunt
bi replied.
Leona McDonald called the business
meeting to order. Margaret Shortreed read
minutes followed with correspondence.
Thank you notes were read from the
Callender Nursing Home and Van Vliets.
An invitation was read from the Majestic
Institute in Brussels to attend their P.R.O.
meeting, May 14. Two carloads plan to
attend.
Margaret Shortreed reported on the front
flowerbed at the hall and it was decided to
seek some landscaping advice. A railing is to
be put along the west side of the building,
down to the door. Some sort of stone so the
grate won't be so treacherous or slippery will
be put out from the front steps.
It was decided to go ahead with the
birthday -calendars, birthdays and anniver-
saries are to be collected with the deadline
being June 18.
A lively sing song was conducted by
Marjory Humphries assisted by Margery
Huether at the piano.
Each member is to bring two desserts for
the dessert euchre at the hall, April 29.
Delegates to the District Annual Meeting
in Ethel on May 13 are Helen Craig, Viola
Kirkby and Mary Humphries. The annual
reports were given by convenors. Auditors
report by Maxine Marks, Betty McCall the
P.R.O. report, Annie Reid the Curator,
Agriculture and Canadian industries, Elva
Bolger, Citizenship and World Affairs, Viola
Kirkby, Education and Cultural Activities,
Marion Godkin, Family and Consumer
Affairs, Mary Humphries, Resolutions, Ser-
ve Watson, Ruth Axtmann reported on the
4-H clubs.
Helen Boven joined the Institute at the
meeting.
Helen Craig expressed appreciation to
Leona McDonald for her three years as
President and presented her with a gift.
It was moved to donate 815 to the Brussels
Fair Board.
It was decided to have a planning meeting
Monday, May 5 in the hall basement at 7:30
p.m. Noon luncheons are planned for May 7
and 21. There will be no Institute meeting in
May. A short business meeting to follow the
May 21 luncheon.

There were seven tables of euchre in play
at the Walton Hall, Tuesday, April 15. Prizes

Evelyn Williamson, Seaforth visited on
Sunday with R4lh Thamer.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold W ilson of Orillia and
formerly of Mc {illop and Gordon Craig of
Guelph visited cently with Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Craig.
Kendra Shortreed was a competitor in the
tap dancing at the Kiwanis Music Festival in
Stratford. Her mother Judy Shortreed and
grandmother Is belle Shortreed attended the
competition. Kndra is a pupil of Cheryl
Bromley of Iondesboro.
We are glad to report that Margery Ritchie
was able to rgturn to her home Sunday
following a stayin Seaforth Hospital after an
accident a few Weeks ago.

Visitors at the home of Audrey De Coo were
Mr. and Mrs. Tony De Coo of Woodstock,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Collins of Mitchell and
Adrian De Coa of Waterloo.
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Phillips of Seaforth
visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Adrian De Coo at Waterloo.
Norman Hubley and Idella Regele visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum and Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Ward of RR 1, and RR 4,
Walton. Mr, aid Mrs. Bryan McClure and
Amy of RR. 2, Seaforth also visited at the
Ward home. •
The community was sorry to hear of Mr.
and Mrs. Harald McCallum's loss in a fire
which burned their barn early Thursday
morning.
Mr.. and Mrs. George Williamson of
Listowel called at the home of Mr, and Mrs.
Ron McCallum and family one evening last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Preszcator of
Crediton visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Harold McCallum at RR 1, Walton and
also called at the Hubley-Regele home at
Seaforth.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hartman of Bayfield
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ward, David, Billie Joe
and Matthew of RR 1 Bornholm visited on
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Vic Ward at RR 4,
Walton.
