PROCLAMATION
TOWN OF SEAFORTH
The forests of Ontario cover more than
90 per oent of this province's land area.
They are a traditional resource, but at
the same time, a key to our future.
Our forest industries provide jobs for
approximately 80,000 Ontarians direct-
ly, and an even greater number
indirectly. The yearly total value of
shipments of forest industry products in
Ontario is in excess of $7,5 billion. They
generate nearly $60 -million in direct
revenues to the province in the form of
stumpage fees from harvesting on
Crown land. These statistics demon-
strate the importance of our forests to
our economy.
In an effort to increase public awareness
of the importance of our forests and fire
prevention;
By resolution of Seaforth Council, I
hereby proclaim
